Default Sentiments for inside the cards...let's start a list

I am going to start collecting sentiments in an excel file. So if you would like to contribute I will get a list going. I can attach the file once we have a bunch so everyone can enjoy. I will see how this goes.

Here's the link to the excel spreadsheet in the DOWNLOADS forum:

Default cool idea

i've been thinking of doing the same thing--every time i see a sentiment i like, but don't really want to buy another stamp, i think "gee i should write that one down so i can hand write it on a card." but i never seem to write them down! this will be handy. i'll send them to you as i come across them. i love the sentiments from A Muse. they're a bit quirky.

It doesn't matter, I was going to try and list them by themes or catagories. Like I am doing some Valentine's now. Thinking of you might fall into the love catagory or not, it depends. I am just starting this list now so I am figuring it out as I go. Basically anything you would like to see inside a card. It could be funny, silly or serious. I figure if I get a list on excel people can then weed out what they don't want. Thanks for helping.

Thanks that is exactly what I am after, I am guilty of the same thing I don't write them down and then I need one, and I am off to old cards looking for a sentiment. Whatever you have just send it along. I compile a list. thanks

I have a few word doc files of quotes I've harvested but, alas, they are not in any sort of order. I really should go through and sort them out according to categories, but that is a daunting task and could take months to finish. I do have a few for specific occasions, which I'd be happy to share later. In the meantime, here are some from my Mary Engelbreit page-a-day desk calendar.

Friendship

The only way to have a friend is to be one.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Friends are people you can be quiet with.
~Anonymous

Folks will know how large your aoul is by the way you treat a dog.
~Charles F. Duran

A constant friend is a thing rare and hard to find.
~Plutarch

A friend is someone who knows you and loves you just the same.
~Elbert Hubbard

The best antiques are old friends.

This is not a letter but my arms around you for a brief moment.
~Katherine Mansfield

Motivation/Encourangement

The goal of Life is Living in agreement with Nature.
~Zeno

Motivation is when your dreams put on work clothes.
~Milton Berle

The beginning is always today.
~Mary Wollstonecraft

Put yourself on view. This brings your talents to light.
~Baltasar Gracian

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.
~ee cummings

Every great dream begins with a dreamer.
~Harriet Tubman

Birthday

(This one is paired with an image of a birthday cake on the calendar)
One of the very nice things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating.
~Luciano Pavoratti

Motherhood

Mother's love is peace. It need not be acquired, it need not be deserved.
~Erich Fromm

A mother's love is like a circle; it has no beginning and no ending.
~Art Urban

Love isn't love until you give it away.
~Michael W. Smith

Happiness

Happiness must be grown in one's own garden.
~Anon

There is no cosmetic for beauty like happiness.
~Lady Marguerite Blessington

There is no one recipe for happiness, but love is always an ingredient.
~Anonymous

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.
~ee cummings

.............................

Probably enough for now, eh?

Ack! Darn, I miss that edit function. In the quote about the dog, that should be SOUL, not aoul -- sorry!

I think I read this sentiment on one of the websites for stampers' verses. I've used it on the inside of several cards and I love it --

Apart from it taking four hours painstakingly to make by an incredibly skilled and talented craftsperson . . . the only thing special about this card is the person holding it! Happy Birthday!

I just ordered the toad sheet of stamps from Eureka while they were having their sale and one of the sentiments that is included I can't wait to use. Next to all of the funny toads, in big letters, it says "Toad you so". It makes me smile to think of all the ways to use that one!

This is a great idea. I don't have access to my collection right now, but I love the Maxine type sayings for quick and funny cards. I also save store bought greeting cards, just because I like the verse. I'm at work right now, but if I get a chance when I get home tonight, I'll add some of mine.

Default Anniversary sayings

A wedding anniversary is the celebration of love,
trust, partnership, tolerance, and tenacity.
The order varies for any given year!

You pledged to share your life and love forever,
you joined your hearts for all eternity...
As you recall your years together remember that the best is yet to come!

Your anniversary is a special day when time stands still,
when the past and the present blend in your memories,
touch your dreams, and love's sweet beginning has no end...

An anniversary is a time to celebrate the joys of today,
the memories of yesterday and the hopes of tomorrow

Another sweet smile to brighten your day.
Another small hand to hold on the way!

Among the world's most precious gifts,
Among its precious pearls,
God smiles down upon the world
and sends us little girls!

Babies are a blessing from up above that fill our hearts with lasting love!

Tiny little hands
Tiny little feet
Tiny little babies
Are oh, so sweet

Default friend

Acquaintances may pass,
but friendships endure...
And you've been enduring me
for some time now.

Ships on the ocean,
Ships on the sea,
But the best ship is the friendship
Between you and me.

Count the stars, thatís how many times Iíve been thankful to have a friend like you, and thatís how far my friendship will reach, no matter where the years may take us.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

If friends could be bought at stores, Iíd pick someone just like you!
And Iíd get a good deal toÖ since those lightly irregular bins are usually discounted.

Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down. Ė Oprah Winfrey

A friend is someone who dances with you in the sunlight and walks with you in the shadows.

Your smile is sunshine
Your laughter is contagious
Your friendship is priceless.

Default love

Love is not as simple as candlelight and roses...
Love is day-to-day living...
taking time, making time, to be there,
with open arms and a giving heart.
Love is the special life we share...

Words cannot begin to express
how much I appreciate you
for bringing a spark of excitement,
a touch of tenderness, the light of love
to every day of my life.

When you take two people truly in love
and join them together,
you make one amazing life.

I love my life
Because it gave me you
I love you
Because you are my life

Default Birthday

I wanted to get you something totally impractical for your birthday, but you already have a husband.

Stay cute. Wish big. Never let anyone count your candles.

I found the absolutely perfect birthday gift for you. I mean, it was one-of-a-kind. It was YOU! Then, I turned my back for a second, and someone else snatched it up!

Geez, those garage sales can be vicious.

Smile! It's your birthday.
Laugh! This is your present.

I found this site which might be helpful....

http://www.online-literature.com/quotes/quotations.php

You can search by Author, work, or quote.

To find love quotes, just enter the word love and search. Or for friend quotes, just seach on the word friend.

Pretty nifty!

This is a great idea, sorry I have none to share. Usually when I need something to print in a card, I'll go to www.twopeasinabucket.com Go to resources and pea soup and you can search for lyrics, poems, quotes, titles for your scrapbooking pages, whatever, by keywords, it's very cool....Also, look at your catalogs in the word sections....you don't have to buy the stamp to use the words that are printed on them.

How do you put your sentiments on the inside of your card?

Do you print (from WORD or CK) on white paper and attach inside?

Here's a birthday one I found for a card a gave a friend:

Another candle on your cake?
Well, that's no cause to pout.
Be glad you have strength enough
To blow the darn thing out.

We both thought it was funny.

I'm one who always LOSES things once I write them down. SOMETIMES, I copy/paste them into an email and send them to myself-----so there's an idea too!

Please keep me in your loop Delia - would love a copy of what sayings people have to say inside their cards.

Thanks, Delia! I have quite a few that I've gathered from here and there - I usually didn't keep track of the source, does that matter?

BABIES:

Wishing you every sweet wonderful thing
that having a precious new baby/daughter will bring!

A new little life, a new world of joy. Best wishes for you and your new baby boy!

Babies make everything a little softer, a little sweeter, a lot more loving! Congratulations

A precious little baby
to play with and adore,
to spoil a little and love a lot...
who could ask for more?

Babies are miracles that bring joy to our lives. Sharing your joy – congratulations!

Having a son/daughter/baby is so much fun
We heard you have another one! Congratulations!

A tiny angel sent from above
Has come to fill your hearts with love!
Congratulations!

A cute and cuddly baby boy
Has come to fill your hearts with joy!
Congratulations!

This comes with a bundle of best wishes for your cute little bundle of joy. Congratulations!

Heard there’s a cute new face at your place. Congratulations!

Tiny laundry, tiny shoes, tiny smiles…
Great big news! Congratulations!

Twinkle, twinkle little star
What a precious girl/boy you are!

Your precious baby,
So tiny and new,
Is a miracle of love,
From God to you.

BIRTHDAY - humorous:

A birthday is just the first day of another 365 day journey around the sun.
Enjoy the trip!

"A light heart lives long" - Shakespeare
Happy Birthday to my light hearted Dad/Mom/friend etc.

Birthdays are good for you - the more you have the longer you live.

Hill? What hill? I didn’t see a hill.
Did anybody see a hill?

Age is a number.
Mine is unlisted.

I plan on growing old much later in life, or maybe not at all - Patty Carey
I see you and Patty think alike! Happy Birthday!
0R I vote for not at all! Happy Birthday!

age (aj), n: 1. the number of years between your date of birth and your most recent birthday rounded off to the nearest whole decade, minus your height in feet, and divided by your shoe size

birthday (burth'da'), n: 1. a day on which the friends and relatives of a given individual express their affection for that person by remembering the day and the month of his or her birth and forgetting the year.

"Happy is the person who keeps a child's heart."
Happy Birthday to a real kid!

A little bird told me you were a year older (cat)
So I ate him.
Happy Birthday!

Another birthday and you look GREAT!
Tell me your secret.
And please don’t tell me it’s diet and exercise. Happy Birthday!

I get a kick out of being your friend.
That counts as exercise, right? Happy Birthday

The secret to an enjoyable birthday can be found in achieving balance.
Forkful of cake, a spoonful of ice cream, forkful of cake, spoonful of ice cream…

There simply are no words for someone like you at FIFTY…
So new ones had to be created especially for the occasion: Fif-tabulous! Fif-tacular! Fiffervescent! Fif-a-licious! Fif-tationa! Have a Fifferific 50th!

So, You're 40! You know what they say about turning 40...
“Damn.”

Psychologists say we go through seven stages of adjustment when we turn 30. (get older)
1. Denial 2. Denial. 3. Denial. 4. Denial. 5. Denial. 6 Denial. 7. Denial.

It's Your 60th Birthday Let me be the first to congratulate you ...
You opened this card without spraining, pulling, or hurting anything. Happy Birthday!
