Default selling unwanted SAB sets?

Well, I finally placed my SAB order, but now I am left with an unusual problem. I will end up with 2 sets (so very and delight in life) that I really don't want. I know that on the sale section of this board it is limited to retired sets, but after the SAB catalog goes away, will I be able to sell these two sets on the SCS site?

Sorry, but they are won't be considered as "retired" by SU until the new catalog period which starts July 1. On the other hand, you certtainly can offer them for trade on the BST boards.

There are other boards that allow selling of current sets, but a hint--don't put them up until several months after they are no longer available and you will get much more for them.

Actually - this is incorrect information....by all intents and purposes SAB sets are considered retired after SAB ends - there is no chance of them ever being sold again by SU so therefore they are retired. However this is not true of stamp sets or items that are sold in the Mini Catalogs because they do have the opportunity to be sold by SU in the future.

And to my way of thinking, in a few month's time, there will be excess SAB sets all over the place. By trying to sell them now, during the promo, you might have a better chance of getting a more fair value for the set, while people are still trying to earn them.

true.

You will be able to sell them here after the new catalog comes out-but you can sell them other places whenever you wish.

I thought the prohibition on selling current stamp sets was for demos only not the general public. Am I wrong?

The B/S/T terms of SCS are the same whether demo or not.
so that is where some confusion can begin. Here is an excerpt from the TOS for the B/S/T forums:

Sale Items
We will limit the sale of SU! Sets & SU merchandise in the B/S/T forum to RETIRED ONLY for customers and SU Demonstrators alike. By eliminating the sale of current sets entirely we remove the questions and uncertainty about the demo status of sellers.
You may sell retired sets and merchandise. You may sell your SU! Classic (hinged lid only) and Craft (linen cover only) Pads, regardless of whether the color is current. Discontinued colors can be sold in any style pad.

It is and you are not wrong...however, this site has it's own rules regarding the sale of current stamp sets. It probably has something to do w/ preventing unidentified demos selling current sets and SCS's own possible liability if that happens. The owner of this site is a demo. I'm sure a moderator can explain it better.

I would try to use the BST forum if you are wanting to do this right after SAB!

yup-just don't forget to post a trade list when you do so and post it under the "Trade" area of our BST forums.

I'm sure you could get someone to trade you for RIW... I had all the SAB I wanted so I'm keeping one has a future gift!

I held onto my unwanted and unmounted SAB sets from last year. I tried to sell them once the catalog expired, but I still have them. I've even offered them at a discounted rate. This year, I'm going to try to trade them earlier (as soon as I get them) and see if I have any better success.

I suggest giving them to someone who is just getting started in the stamping habit. I gave one to a friend last year just before I became a demo and now she's one of my best customers!

I held my extra SAB sets from last year until June. I had 4 of them. The one that went for the least went for $24. The others were around $30. I do this almost every year. They usually sell within a few hours of posting them on stamping boards.

I will end up with two SAB sets that I already have. I'm planning on posting them as blog candy soon. They didn't cost me anything, and I have been on the receiving end of blog candy and RAK's that it's time I think I "pay it forward".

Thanks to those who answered my question about listing current sets. I certainly don't want to do anything against the rules. I will have some duplicate SAB sets coming soon because I've been on a buying binge lately and I will want to try and sell those so I can recoup some of the money I spent! ;D

This year's SAB choices were great. I earned everything in the SAB catty on my first order as a demo because I needed a ton of stuff. Well, I placed another big order, and instead of all the SAB stamp sets, I chose a few of the Simply Scrappin' kits plus another Very Punny. I can give one of the punny stamps with an ink spot as hostess gifts, and there are so many cute cards and scrap book pages that can be made with the scrappin' kits. I do have a duplicate of Delight in Life though because I plan to give that as a gift to my son's fiance.

Another option would be to get more of the Scrappin' Kits... even if you don't love the die-cuts, you can always use more cardstock!
