SCS meet-up - MD, PA, VA, WV!

Where ever you are from--let's get together! :)

This is what we have so far:

We might be meeting in Frederick, MD

...more details to come!

(Okay, ladies. I started a new topic. Let's discuss! :D)

ginapier 09-29-2004 02:06 PM

Ill make the drive from NY for that!!

Inkspired 09-29-2004 02:47 PM

Still working on it...

I am wondering how much people would be willing to pay towards the fee for renting a place. We can possibly use a Fire Hall in New MArket,MD (Frederick area) but it is $250. for the rental fee. Do you think that you would be willing to pay a fee based on how many people sign up. Would you be willing to pay in advance to reserve your spot? How much table space would you prefer to have? Please feel free to email me with your answers - Thanks, Michelle

ljpanzer 09-29-2004 02:58 PM

I would be willing to put money towards renting a place. I think it would be GREAT!!!!!!!!!! Just let me know! I'm game!

carolync6 09-29-2004 04:47 PM

I would definitely contribute also.

Carolyn

scdecker 09-29-2004 05:08 PM

Gina - you'll have to stop in NJ and pick me up - right between the parkway and turnpike!
Wish my sister was still in Ijamsville - we could have used her house.

LisaMNaples 09-29-2004 05:35 PM

I'm willing! New Market is not too far. How about the grange hall? I believe it's bigger than New Market's Fire Hall. My friend who does CM used it for a crop they had with her group. It had a lot of space for lots of people to spread out and crop! I will check with for a contact person if you want.

PaisleyPrincess 09-29-2004 07:53 PM

Depending on when it is I might be able to make it. My aunt lives in Frederick. I could kill two birds with one stone.

Inkspired 09-30-2004 03:39 AM

Lisa -

Hi Lisa - Yes that would be great if you could check on the Grange Hall. I was hoping my husband could get a discount rate for the fire hall but they didn't offer that. Any other options at this point would be worth investigating - Thanks so much - Michelle

Thought I'd bring this thread back up to the top . . .

Do you think we should try to pick a date to work with, so that we can all block it out on our calendars? Shall I throw a date out there? How about Saturday November 13? Someone had mentioned trying to do something before Thanksgiving.

I don't know if this is putting the cart before the horse . . . but maybe if we have a date in mind it might be easier to try to nail down specifics on a location.

Also, maybe we should try to get some sort of count on how many people would actually try to make it, this way we would know how big a space we'd need.

Ok, I'm a compulsive organizer, I can't help it.

Leslie  (Yes, I'm rolling my eyes at myself!)

Inkspired 10-01-2004 10:35 AM

Still working on it!

ok - That date sounds good - I have several calls in to a few locations. It looks like the New Market Hall will be the least expensive. It will run about $200.00. I think that is for ALL DAY! Yippee~! Nothing is confirmed as of yet though - I wil post when I know for sure!

So, please mark that date on your calendars, and if you are interested could please email me so I have an idea of how many people are seriously interested in attending. I need to make sure we have enough space and it's not going to cost an arm and a leg per person!
Thanks, Michelle

I wanna come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But if it is a Saturday , I won't be able to, unless you are all up to staying for a long time!!! I work until 4pm, maybe I could come after that. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

carolync6 10-01-2004 11:24 AM

The 13th works for me, but should we do it on a Friday night and just stay out really late?

Inkspired 10-01-2004 11:31 AM

Friday?

The problem I have found with Fridays is that most places are already booked. Most of the halls / meeting rooms I have checked into have things scheduled well into December for Friday evenings. maybe if this one goes over well, we can do a Friday evening next time. I imagine we will still be there after 4pm! I think we can have it all day - but as I said before, I am still waiting on the confirmation and details. I'll let ya know! Michelle

hockeymomto2boys 10-01-2004 11:34 AM

I wanna come, just let me know once you can find out how long everyone thinks they are staying. Even just to come and talk and meet everyone would be fun.

schrades 10-01-2004 11:47 AM

You ladies will have so much fun! It doesn't really start getting hectic until the end!!!! GO GIRLS!!!

I am from Chambersburg, Pa, and would be very interested in coming. I'm not a demo, though- is that okay? My sister is a demo from Arnold, Md and would like to come too. Keep us posted on the specifics! Kathy

get together

Hmmmmm, just a thought. I live in Greenwood DE, not to far from your MD get together location. Depending on how many people, I have a two bedroom apartment (pictures attached) just for stamping. It is pretty roomy with sam's tables.... I would love to host the event!!!! The date works for me. Also has a kitchen so we could have a sort of "pot luck" (what is better than food and stamping :D ). I am sure I can also borrow other tables....

let me know your thoughts....

Val

rantrilli 10-02-2004 05:11 AM

HOLY MOLY SPOILED STAMPER!!!! An apartment just for stamping???!!! I'm so jealous!! I'm definately interesteed in coming!!! Also SCDECKER: we could drive together!! I'm about an hour or so south of freehold.....right outside of Cherry Hill . I'm definately in! I'll await details .
Renee

StampinLeslie 10-02-2004 05:12 AM

WOW! How many people can you accomodate? How far from the Frederick area is your apartment?

spoiled stamper 10-02-2004 05:14 AM

ok, another thought. Depending on the group size there is also a large garage attached. I can clean that up and put more tables out there.... Fun, fun, fun!!!

spoiled stamper 10-02-2004 05:17 AM

I think I am about a half hour from Frederick. Hard to judge how many people. With the garage, lets see, and if I clear out my "junk" in the apartment, 30 people?

rantrilli 10-02-2004 07:15 AM

my cousin lives near belcamp , MD...maybe I could come down ahead of time and help you set up?? I'd be happy to help in anyway I could .

spoiled stamper 10-02-2004 08:28 AM

help might be fun!! Can you imagine how much we could learn from each other!!!! :D :D

EricaB 10-02-2004 08:48 AM

I'm free the 13th and I'm sure we could all chip in extra tables as needed. Ok, Fredrick I could probably find, but where exatly are you? I'm right by University of Maryland in College Park (where 495e-w meets 95N)

spoiled stamper 10-02-2004 09:14 AM

rest assured I'll get good directions on here. That being said, if you go to randmcnally.com or map quest and type in my address....

8064 Hidden Meadow Lane
Greenwood, DE 19950

you should get a pretty good idea. I think it takes us under an hour to get to the bay bridge from here.

KateStamps 10-02-2004 11:24 AM

Mapquest is telling me that Frederick to Greenwood is about 120 miles! I still think you've got a great location, Spoiled Stamper, and you might be closer to a lot of people. I did want to point out the distance, just in case it matters to anyone else.

That said, I LOVE the idea of a pot luck, and I'm SO jealous of your space!

Kate

Mzaiderman 10-02-2004 11:31 AM

November 13 in Frederick works for me. I'd love to get together and would be happy to pay a fee for a room rental!

Michele

spoiled stamper 10-02-2004 11:52 AM

I think what I'll do is start a new thread. I'll pick a different date so as not to interfere with the Fredericka get together. I'm just all excited now!!

StampinLeslie 10-02-2004 12:03 PM

Michelle -- You are going to keep going with the plans for New Market, Maryland on November 13, right?

Leslie

LisaMNaples 10-02-2004 12:27 PM

I will have to check on the 13th date. My church is having their holiday craft bazaar. I know my DH is working the food station all day. But please keep me posted.

Sorry I haven't been able to find out about the grange hall - I've been working late. Do you want me to still find out about the grange hall?

rantrilli 10-02-2004 12:55 PM

I'm DEFINATELY in for the 13th!!!!!!!!! I'll come down the day before and help set up and get stuff together . I can go to COSTCO in Christiana and get some goodies for us to eat also . spoiled stamper....email me and I'll help you plan whatever you need .

We're still in the planning stages for November 13th for the Frederick,MD area. I am amazed at the response! I am excited to actually get to meet you all in person! I wil keep you posted with the details - I am STILL waiting for confirmation. If I don't hear something soon - I am going to look into other Frederick area locations. Thanks for all of the offers for help - I will keep you all posted as well! G'nite - Michelle

Binkyman99 10-02-2004 07:32 PM

maryland stamping get together

Wow! I'm getting excited about the possibility of a get together on the 13th of Nov. I'm sending an individual email to inkspired, because I still sometimes can lose topics on the web site, and don't want to miss what's going on! My sister is interested too, she's a demo from Arnold Md.

Inkspired 10-03-2004 05:32 AM

Holey Moley !

Wow - I just thought it might be a good idea to post a list of sorts on who has said they are interested - If you should be on it and are not - please email me - If you are on it and shouldn't be - please do the same.
I will post the details when they become final - WOW! Check this out!

Isn't this AMAZING!
I was thinking maybe once I know the details about the cost and times and everything - we can discuss how we want to do food, drinks, etc.
Also - does anyone want to do any type of Make and Takes or a little class of a unique idea or anything? I know we are all mostly Demonstrators, but I would love to learn something NEW!
Maybe we can have a Yard Sale / Trade table also?

OK - Whew! Talk to you all soon - Michelle

KateStamps 10-03-2004 06:17 AM

I'll be there! For a project, how about doing a shoebox swap?

Kate

Inkspired 10-03-2004 06:36 AM

Hi KATE!

What's a shoebox swap? Sounds interesting! I'll take anything PRADA in a 71/2 ! LOL!
