CASE'ing or Scraplifting

Until recently I never heard of CASE'ing. Does it mainly pertain to copying a card? I always used to say "scraplifting" If I was going to copy something. Do the letters in CASE stand for something?

It's basically a way to explain taking someones card and making your version whether it be an exact copy or altering it to make it "your own".

I say copy all, steal everything. LOL I need so much help with my inspiration. I never take credit for anothers work though. And sometimes I do come up totally with my own ideas.

My favourite answer is "Copy And Selectively Edit"...it indicates you got the idea from someone else but added your own touches to make it your own.

The definition of CASE has just as many meanings as there are people who do it. Each person has their own meaning for it. I still don't get the idea why people do it, but there are many, many threads on the topic.

Some people aren't as creatively inclined as others. If you don't want something copied then don't share it online.

I take it as a compliment if someone would like something I made enough to make their own. Of course I don't take all the credit for something I've cased but I don't often make an exact copy either

Minders.....I'm sorry, my comment was not meant to be critical of anyone. I agree that anything that is not copyrighted on the internet is fair game for copying how ever someone wants.

As I said, this topic has been discussed many, many times. There seems to be no real definitive answer to it.

Didn't take it as critical really but I do know people who thing casing is like this totally bad thing...I don't. Granted I'm not advocating stealing someones idea and calling it your very own but if you post it, someone will copy it! I'm so jealous of all the super creative people that come up with this stuff on their own!!!! It amazes me! I try to give credit, even if it's just saying that it's not an original idea (sometimes can't locate the original).

Now, I;m also not a fan of people "stealing" photos of cards and passing them off as their own on their blog or wherever, but that's a different thread really.

These casing arguments can get pretty heated, that's for sure, you're right, a lot of threads. Hope it's sunny wherever you are...it's nice here!
