Default Scotch brand Double Sided tape

It seems that there are several SCS'ers that use Scotch Double Sided tape. I searched for more information regarding pricing but didn't come up with much.... Where are the best (cheapest) places to buy it? I've heard that Walmart and Sam's has them but I don't shop there....Viking has it but because of all the hub-bub regarding the Mono, I don't know if their prices for Scotch are competitive or not....

http://www.viking.com/ddMain.do?leve...1001_FM_273281

Help! I didn't want to restock on Mono because it really isn't cost efficient for me to buy it via Viking because I use soooo much of it on cards. I'm paranoid things are going to fall off....I just want to go with something dependable.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

I too have looked online to buy double sided tape cheaper. Walmart is where I buy it.. I buy 2 rools of 1/2 inche by 500 inches for $3.88. So Viking is not that much more. I have searched and that is really the best price you can buy it at.

I am wondering if people found it online cheaper??

I would have to say that those are not really good prices....however I buy the one in the dispenser and have never purchased refills....

As a comparison I purchased a six roll pkg at Sams Club 1/2 inch X 500 in each for $8.74
I also know that Walmarts is under $3 a roll
I am sure you can find it at Target and your local grocery as well.

Good luck on your search!

If you have access to a military commissary look there. I buy mine 1/2 inch x 450 inches for $1.59 each. I know this won't help everyone, but it may help a few.
BTW, I prefer the dstape to pretty much all other adhesives. It holds up well through all kinds of weather and multiple layers and it's easier to take something off and realign if needed. No huffing involved like some mono or snail adhesives.

I have bought mine at Robert's Craft with the 40% off coupon. I cannot remember the price though...

I was also going to suggest Michael's or Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon, but not sure on the price at either place. In the Chicago suburbs we've been having lots of competition between Office Depot, Office Max and Staples, and both OM and Staples have been putting out some great coupons. I just used one at OM yesterday - get $10 off a $20 or more purchase - and I used mine to buy 6 rolls of the Scotch double-sided tape for a little over $10 (it came to just over $20, then less the $10 coupon). So if it's happening near you, grab onto those coupons and use them!!

Be aware that some SCSers have posted in other threads that they've been VERY disappointed with some of the cheaper sources of non-Scotch brand double sided tapes, so be careful with the off-brands. I remember Target in particular being mentioned as a "don't buy."

I use almost exclusively scotch ds tape. Mono just doesn't hold on. I usually buy mine at Staples for $3.50 per 1/2" roll of 900 inches (if you buy 4)--the kind that fits in a table top dispenser. I found it once at Viking for $2.69 a roll.

Check out Dollar General stores, they carry the scotch brand and a generic that is $1 a roll. Works just fine.

I buy this too--it works well! My only complaint is that the dispenser it's in doesn't work that well (doesn't cut the tape). I put the roll in one of those office-type dispensers and all is well!
