Rubber vs Clear
So is industry going the way of the clear stamp? They seem to be much cheaper but I am not always happy with how they stamp (or how they clean up). I really prefer real rubber....

Rubber or clear?
I really prefer rubber for stamping quality and a clear block for mounting and seeing where I'm going to stamp. Having a sticker of the image visible through the clear block is a bonus. There are several companies out there who have done this for some time, and I'm glad to see more are joining them.

I really like high quality clear. Some clear I've tried is squishy and stamps weird. Don't like that.
Also if it's a more solid image I tend to get a better image out of rubber.
I'm not willing to give either up.

Rubber for me! Don't care if it is mounted or unmounted, just needs to be rubber.

I love rubber. I've had some good and some bad with clear, but rubber has never let me down.
I wish more companies would package their unmounted rubber like Hero Arts does: on cling mount with the image on the back. Love them!!

I have to admit that even though I own a company that sells clear stamps, I still have rubber ones, too. However, I tend to reach for the clear stamps more often for easy placement, convenience and clean up...

Only rubber for me. I have no problems with rubber. I don't find them hard to place in their unmounted state. And, I don't get sad it it's off just a titch. I love my card making but absolute perfection is not that big deal to me. I will not, however, go back to wood mounts. That ship has sailed.

Rubber! I tried a few different brands of clear, but I just wasn't happy with the stamped image, so I got rid of them.

I like to think of myself as an "equal opportunity stamper", LOL! I love kinds of stamps as long as they stamp clean.

Who makes high quality clear? most all the clear stamps I seem to get aren't that great. Maybe I have been buying from the wrong places.

Stamps made in the USA by are usually the best. I know that Flourishes, Mark's Finest Papers, Sweet n' Sassy and There She Goes Stamps are all made at the same factory by the same machines with the same products. These are HIGH quality Clear Stamps.

I like rubber better, but use both. I researched this for some time last year and it was clear that unmounted rubber was the majorities' preference.

I like Stampavie I have used many of their stamps and their images are clear and concise, and very detailed.

Ditto--stamps made in the U.S. are best. Layers of Color also has HIGH quality clear stamps made here in the U.S. Love them, and love the images.

I voted rubber. Mounted or unmounted is fine. I do have some clear too but prefer rubber. I may have to try some of the clear that you all are recommending.....

I really like rubber but I do have a lot of clear. It really depends on the materials used to make the clear stamps.
CTMH, Sarah Kay, Sugar Nellie to name a couple have awesome clear stamps.
They hold ink and stamp evenly. The cheap one like Studio G, Martha Stewart I hate because ink beads on them .

I am putting in another vote for rubber. I do have some clear stamps but only buy them if I can't get the same design in rubber. I have to agree that CTMH stamps do seem to be very good for clear stamps though. To my mind, nothing delivers the quality of image like rubber!

I definitely prefer rubber as well. I have some clear stamps...ones that are only available that way, but not a lot. My favorite clear ones are from Papertrey Ink!

I love rubber too. I have "gifted" so many clear stamps. I only have a few that I can't part with. I prefer rubber all the way. I will still buy rubber from SU but I am happy to see they went clear with some of the sets for the acrylic fans.
I will definitely buy clear stamps also. If given a choice I go for traditional.

Clear for me. I even prefer cheap-quality clear stamps over rubber. I have trouble getting good solid images from some clear stamps, but I also have the same trouble getting a good solid image from some rubber stamps. But I will still buy rubber. I prefer unmounted rubber.

I wish!!! No, SU!'s Clear-Mount stamps are NOT clear. They are still rubber. Only, they are unmounted, and do not come with the wood blocks. I'm glad they started to offer this option too. The "clear" in SU!'s phrase "Clear Mount" refers to the mount, not the actual stamp.

I just prefer the rubber, whether it's cling mount or wood mount (or even Unmounted); I have a bunch of "clear" sets, but seldom seem to reach for them unless it's a specific sentiment or stamp I need.

I voted either....as long as they are unmounted I'm happy. Rubber you can count on a great print....but clear is easier to place. If I had to choose...I would choose clear...but I voted for either.... hum...

I usually prefer rubber, but cannot resist a high quality clear stamp when it's an image I love.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I had a Demo tell me that SU started selling clear stamps. I need to stop speaking to that Demo. I have another one I use but I order online from her.
I am happy SU went unmounted. I have some stamp sets I wanted to buy but wanted the cheaper price, lol. I have a big $600 order coming up.
Thanks again.

I agree with most of the comments here already. I like the price and storage for clear, but as far as the actual stamped image, I prefer rubber. However, I have not actually tried any good clear stamps. I only have the kind you buy at M's. I will be placing another Papertrey Ink order soon, and plan to order at least one stamp set to try.

I have tons of both clear and rubber and IMO rubber gives a much better stamped image than any clear stamps I own.
However, I do like the fact that with the clear you can see where you're stamping.

I voted either. I have mostly clears and have been using them for years. All my rubber stamps are unmounted too. I've found there are differences in quality in both types, and some will never give a great image, whether rubber or clear.

I have to use clear - I can't figure out placement when using a rubber stamp. Guess I'm just to visual...
