I'd like to ask everyone to make 1 get well or thinking of you card for a wounded troop member. Operation:Quiet Comfort always needs these cards for our on-going mission to supply comfort and honor to our wounded troops. Please include a personal message and please NO GLITTER and mail to Operation Quiet Comfort, PO Box 700325, Plymouth, Michigan 48170
OQC has a goal of 1000 cards per month (5 cards are put into each transition kit (Go-Bag) that we send to the over 30 combat support hospitals (think MASH units). More information about our non-profit organization can be found at operation:quietcomfort.com
OQC would like the cards to have a personal message or stamped with "get well" or "thinking of you" or "thank you" and then signed including (if you want) your city and/or state so the troops will know that they are supported from all over.
Diane, Is there anyway to designate on the enevlope if for man or woman?? I'd like to do for both, but have some that are just to frilly for men.. Let me know as soon as you can...
Thanks,
Patty
Just to be absolutely clear... Are these cards supposed to be blank or are we supposed to write a message in them?
Thanks for sharing this information.
No - the purpose of the cards are so the injuried soldier can read them & use them for support. They are given to them with a little duffle bag (go bag) that has these cards, stationary, a few CDs, a CD player, batteries, crossword puzzle books & personal care items. They are given these bags when they get injuried & these items help them unwind & have something to do. Operation Quiet Comfort also does jean quilts with signed squares that go to soldiers. I am collecting jeans for the quilts & can give you more info if you want it. It's a great cause to send your cards to.
Hi Diane - this is a great idea - i'll be making some cards tomorrow and getting them in the mail, ASAP -- thanks for bringing attention to this cause!
