Default Review: received my Palette Spots and

I LOVE THEM!!! The colors are rich and vibrant and the image is sharp, they dry quickly just like dye based inks and they cleaned up nicely. I did use TAC's stamp cleaner which I understand is the same as Ultra Clean and I clean my stamps immediately after stamping, so I'm sure that helps, but even at that I've had the rubber on some stamps stain with other inks (even dye-based ones). If I had to give a con to these it is that the color name is not marked on the pad itself. The wording "Pallette" on the lid is colored the ink color, but it is on a smoked colored plastic lid, so it is difficult to really tell the color by that. I plan to stamp a small ink sample sticker to put on the outside of each pad along with the color name. I think this is a good idea for any ink pad so you can tell how the color really looks when stamped. The spots come package in groups of four and the color are marked on the big container the spots come in, just not on the individual pads, so it's no major problem really, just something that would be nice to have on the individual spots. I definitely will be buying more and possibly full sized pads of the colors I use the most.

I have the full size Palette pads and love them. I used my label maker to add the color name on the side of the lid, but I like your idea to add the color sticker!

I agree with your con and what I've done is written the color name on a thin piece of label and mark one side on the top and the bottom so that I can put them back together correctly! I think it would be a good idea to put a dab of the color there too!

I love how the four packs color coordinate...that makes it so much easier for me!!

Yup! TAC carries 36 colors of them...in regular sized ink pads, refills and the 4 pack spots.

Even though I mentioned a "con" above about the lids and bottoms not being labeled, I really do love these inks!! And the labeling is an easy fix...

You can also google "Palette Inks" to find them online- I haven't found them cheaper than TAC though. At some random sites online I've found spectrum pads in the same colors as the spots, too.

I wish the catalog told you what colors come in each 4 group. Does anyone have a list of these? I want to get some but not sure. I would especially like to know the colors of I. the Escher set. Looks like New Canvas, Burnt Umber, Charcoal, and Noir but not sure. Also, what color does New Canvas stamp as? Is it a white? Thanks!

You're right, Lisa--the Escher set is New Canvas, Noir, Charcoal, and Burnt Umber. The New Canvas is white, though it does not (for me, at least) mark very brightly on dark cardstock. Gives a much more subtle effect. Here are the colors in the other sets:
Degas--Nude, toile pink, ballet blue, lavender
Cezanne--prussian blue, liliac, bordeaux, jardin moss
Lautrec--moulin rouge, cognac, landscape, beaux arts blue
Morisot--burnt sienna, haystack, raw sienna, orangerie
Gaugin--paris lights, claret, chartreuse, seascape
Monet--reflection blue, belle rose, iris, waterlily
Renoir--cote d'azure, violete, giverny green, boudoir blush
Van Gogh--starry night, l'amore, sunflower, veridian leaf

I, too, can't believe each spot isn't marked with the color! Easily remedied, but you wonder why the company wouldn't do such a common sense thing...

I find alot of spots fit perfectly in our larger plastic cases... Its a good way to recycle them for a new purpose and easier to just grab one or two of these plastic cases instead of all of those little guys!!

I used my Label maker to make little labels for my ink spots. I trimmed them down to fit the ink spot!

This is something I wished that the Palette inks would have is "The color of the ink pad"!!

As for cleaning the ink off the stamps, Try taking a Toothbrush and scrubbing it.

Also a Key point is to clean the INK off Right after you have finished using that stamp and ink.

There are a few other places that you may purchase the palette inks.

Do a Google Search for them.

TAC does carry them. in Ink spots and Full ink Pads along with Re-inkers.
