Question about Basic Black ink

I've heard that the basic black is permanent. If so, my question is this: Could I use this on a coaster without sealing it? Thanks in advance for your replies.:p

No.

The Basic Black and Basic Brown are supposed to be waterproof only on Whisper White and Very Vanilla cardstock, and classic inks are not designed for use on ceramic tiles. If you don't want to seal them, you're pretty much limited to stamping with StazOn and coloring in line images with Sharpies. Some people have had some luck with using craft ink and then baking the tiles in the oven, but sometimes it still comes off.

I tried using Basic Black on a tile and it feathered or bled as it was soaked into the tile - can't quite explain what it looked like except if you've seen lipstick feather or vein it was kind of like that. So, from then on I stuck with Stazon for the main image on the tile then color it in with Sharpies, chalk, or fabrico markers. With chalk or Fabrico you definitely have to seal. With Sharpies you can hold the tile under a running faucet and it won't wash off.

Thanks! That is what I thought. Bummer. Oh well. I guess I'll go back to plan A. I was making coasters for my friend with the Nature Prints turtle and wanted to switch to another stamp in black. I don't have time to go get more supplies (moving), so I'll just stick with the turtle. Thank you for your quick reply. Guess I'll get back to packing!
