This really is about Stamping, just read on...
Darling Hubby wants to go to REI (a somewhat local Sporting Goods Store - about an hours and 15 min. away - sooo not really so local) to "look" at some camping stuff for he and son #3 for Scout camping. All I heard was "KA-CHING. KA-CHING" There goes the grocery money for next week. Then he says, well while "we" (meaning he & I) are out there maybe we can go to Plano (about 2 hours and 45 min from here) and go to that stamping store you like! WHAT??
A Stamping Store !?! You want to TAKE ME to a Stamping Store!?! Forget the groceries, LET'S GO!!
So, while I'm waiting for him to get ready - I'm done; fastest time on record! I was looking through the newest issue of Paper Crafts and saw Scented Embossing Powder. Hmmm, may have to get me a Chocolate one of those.
Then I was thinking what would your favorite scented embossing powder be?

coffee flavored. Just think, when there's no money for food, you can sprinkle them on the Ramen noodles! See, it will all work out! Have fun

Strawberry, but only if it smelled like real strawberries rather than like strawberry candy.

Chocolate.
But I'd give up a portion of my stamping money to be let loose at REI. Love that place- and we don't have them here.

What fun!!! Enjoy your expedition and let us know what goodies you find! I'd love a light floral scent since I use flowers so much. But, chocolate.... yummmm.

Well, a small fortune was spent at REI, however Stamp Asylum was a bust. I almost cried. About 4 years ago they had everything you could imagine, now (granted 4 years is a very long time ) there was nothing, nothing new, everything was old. I'm guessing that they have new management and must make their money on classes, as one was getting out and they were spending money like crazy. I was thinking, " if you think this is good, let me give you my card!"
Well, he felt bad for me so in a couple of weeks we are going to go to Salado, they have an awesome store there (can't remember the name of it) and he likes the shops there too, so it will be fun. I'm trying to get him to book a room at the Stagecoach Inn on a Friday Night then we can shop all day on Sat.
RE: Stamp Asylum - is in the shopping center at the corner of West Park and Coit. It's really not worth the effort if you have to make one to get there.

So about the scented embossing powders, I did a Google search and at the top of the list when you click it brings you to a page with many scented EPs. Chocolate Brownie, Baby Powder in Pink and Blue, Vanilla Cream, Coffee on the Rocks, Fuzzy Peach. Wow, nothing like opening a card with one of these scents, how cool is that??.......

I'm pretty sure Cornish Heritage has scented embossing powders, don't they? and they have free shipping over $25. While you're there, get a few unmounted background stamps. Oh, and a Palette Noir ink pad. LOL

Unfortunately, I agree! I'm sorry your trip wasn't that great... I was very disappointed the last time I went there, too. There is a cool scrapbook store for embellishments right near there called The Scrap Bucket (you can see it online) if you are ever in the area again.

Oh Sandi*S,
What a bummer about your store visit. I agree with your evaluation though. Not knowing in which direction you're located, there's another idea to consider in the future. "Recollections" has a location in Frisco, and another in Arlington, and another in either N. Richland Hills or maybe the Hurst/Euless/Bedford area. I've visited both of the first 2 locations, and they are very nice!
