RAK Request - my mom had a stroke and we could use some warm wishes

I've never requested a RAK before, but my mom, who is only 56, had a pretty severe stroke yesterday and if any one could send some cards, she would dearly love it. She loves getting cards from me and I know they would help cheer her up. Please just sign "Amy's SCS friends". Thank you all!

Amy, will try to get one out tomorrow. Sorry that this has happened. I'm not far behind her in age and I can't imagine what you all must be going through!
(((((HUGS)))))) to you all.

BTW, Elsner was my grandfather's last name....not very common out here...wonder if somewhere.....way back in time.....we are related????

Amy, I will send a card to your Mom today. My husband is now 62. He's had two strokes two years ago, so I know how frightenening it can be. He is doing very well now. Many of the symptoms cleared up on their own, and he had therapy to help with the others. We've been very fortunate, and I pray that your Mom will be, also. We enjoy each day, and this experience has put a lot in perspective for us. Eileen

Amy, so sorry to hear about your mom. I just lost my mom in February, may have been a stroke (no autopsy). I'm sorry you're having to go through this. I will keep your family in prayer.

Oops! Forgot to mention that I would send a card out tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who sent cards and prayers because they are working wonders. My mom was moved to rehab on Friday and she is making huge strides everyday. I'm certain she will make a full recovery soon. It really is an amazing thing to see. Thank you all for helping keep her spirits high and keeping her motivated!

The original post is nearly 10 months old. How is your mother doing now Amy?

codepink 04-16-2007 03:55 AM

Hi. Thanks for checking. My mom is doing wonderfully. She hasn't made a complete recover, but close. There are still a few signs, but she's very self-sufficient and doing great. She did end up having to retire and she's on disability, but she gets around the house great, is back to cooking and is trying to work on sewing, but slowly. We're very lucky that she has recovered like she has. Thank you all for sending cards. It really did make a difference for her.
