Quick ?: Always Artichoke or Old Olive?

I've got Certainly Celery and Mellow Moss, but love the greens, haven't seen either of these two in person and it's hard to tell from the catty pictures...which of the two do you use more? I'm thinking for stems, leaves, and florals mostly...

Thanks!

nmslmomto3 02-24-2007 02:07 PM

Always Artichoke, although old olive works nice with pinks and other greens. LOL..sorry not helping. First impressions, always art

staramaze 02-24-2007 02:09 PM

I probably reach for OO more... BUT remember you can always LIGHTen a color by stamping OFF on scratch paper before you stamp on you final piece... so If I could only have ONE... I would go AA.

madstamper33 02-24-2007 02:10 PM

I love them both but I think my first choice would be old olive. What the heck get them both, you'll love them too. :)

sf9erfan 02-24-2007 02:11 PM

I chose AA and love to pair it with Mellow Moss on the 2 step stamp sets (Heartfelt Thanks). I think Mellow Moss is so close to OO that I went with AA. Have not regretted it!

scrappersister 02-24-2007 02:14 PM

My favorite between the 2 is Always Artichoke.

I'm a completed OO gal here. I use way more than my AA. But think about what color families you have most of. If it's RR, then get AA, but if it's EE get OO. HTH!

cardmaker2 02-24-2007 02:22 PM

Quick answer! ALways Artichoke. You will find it on lots of my cards. I stamp it off once if I need a lighter shade.

housefan 02-24-2007 02:30 PM

I prefer Old Olive. Artichoke is not as warm looking and is very dark.

showmestamper 02-24-2007 02:32 PM

I like them both but if I could only pick one, it would be Artichoke. It is very rich looking to me. Old Olive has a lot more yellow in it than Artichoke, it that helps.

If you can wait to order, PM me and I will send you a sample of each color. :)

I like AA paired with Mellow Moss. Use that combo a lot with my Shapes & Shadows set.

imataloss 02-24-2007 02:45 PM

I love Old Olive. It's the color I use the MOST! I'd be lost without it.

krabearkub 02-24-2007 03:03 PM

Artichoke is the only one that I use now! Old Olive is too olivy.... :)

genie1314 02-24-2007 03:07 PM

old olive is my choice! :)

kellyklp 02-24-2007 03:10 PM

Old Olive

Old Olive is my choice, it works great with browns!!!!!!!!!!

amysings 02-24-2007 03:17 PM

I love Always Artichoke! It's my favorite dark green.

lauralynn 02-24-2007 03:20 PM

I prefer AA, but probably because I tend to like the darker colors. I used OO a lot before I had AA so I don't think either is a mistake. But if you will be stamping light color flowers (soft subtles) I would think OO would be a better choice. Even with stamping off some color, AA might be a bit too intense. Maybe pick some flower sets and look at the galleries. You may see a trend with a color combo you prefer...

scrown8301 02-24-2007 03:21 PM

Well let me put it to you this way. I have been using Old Olive alot lately but only because I am all out of Always Artichoke. LOL I love LOVE Always Artichoke. It's one of my favorites!

TeeGeeDee 02-24-2007 03:36 PM

Old Olive is the first green I ever purchased. It looks great with Certainly Celery (they are a Dynamic Duo for good reason!) and Summer Sun (think SUNflowers and Olive foliage). It also looks very nice with Elegant Eggplant.

So for sentimental and personal preference reasons I vote for Old Olive but my goal is to own all the greens in all forms so you can't go wrong with Always Artichoke either.

Sorry to not really be of help but it's always hard to choose what not to get.

Happy Crafting!

steubner 02-24-2007 03:37 PM

Old Olive. I bought Artichoke instead of OO and I don't like it...I still use my olive spot.

handstampedhappiness 02-24-2007 03:52 PM

I used to use Old Olive all the time, but since I bought Artichoke, I never use Old Olive anymore. In fact, I kind of think it's yucky.

Anemone 02-24-2007 04:08 PM

Another vote for Artichoke here!

eliotstamps 02-24-2007 04:15 PM

My vote is artichoke, I think it goes well with more colors. But I really like olive, too . . . good luck!

JustineMarie 02-24-2007 05:40 PM

I love Always Artichoke, it looks so great with so many other colors......like real red, regal rose, saffron, also looks good with pretty in pink. Good luck on deciding....it's so hard isn't it?!

twyant 02-24-2007 05:46 PM

I use them both a lot, but if I could only have one, probably Old Olive would be my choice. We aren't helping you are we? :)

kathat 02-24-2007 05:47 PM

I love them both but have been using Old Olive much more than Always Artichoke lately. It's definitely much more spring and summery in my mind than Always Artichoke.

uffdastamper 02-24-2007 06:19 PM

Artichoke for sure!

*Lisa* 02-24-2007 06:36 PM

Thanks for all the opinions!!

I'll go with AA this time around b/c it sounds like OO is close to Mellow Moss and I can stamp off a bit if I need it lighter...but, I think I'll order OO next time because that one sounds like it's a fan fave too :)

Thanks again!

Sherry P. 02-24-2007 06:54 PM

I loved Old Olive until Always Artichoke came along. It's new and different!

jpmayo 02-24-2007 07:19 PM

Old Olive and Cert. Celery together are my most used greens but if I use Mellow Moss, if I need a green with it I choose Always Artichoke.
I guess it would depend on what stamps and other colors you use the most as to what greens you would choose for yourself since different stamps/stamping styles would use different greens.
I guess that isnt much help, huh...Sounds to me like you need to get them both:)

lbirus 02-24-2007 07:26 PM

If you are planning on getting the new spring paper from the mini catty, go with the olive. It'll match the paper.

Otherwise, love 'em both.
