1. What current trend do you love? Robots, aliens, stars(I have only boys!), distressing, silhouettes...
2. What current trend are you sitting out? The dolls, coffee/tea sets, butterflies, anything super girly, weird birds...
3. What trends do you see coming up next? Definitely fabric.
1) I love owls, birds, cupcakes, trees, flourishes, ribbon, buttons
2) I'm sitting out Copic Markers (expensive and I'm an SU demo), weird looking people, incl the vintage children with crowns. <G> I also hate stapes on cards!
3) New trends? No idea! I'd love to see Background stamps become more popular again - I LOVE them!

What is a kokeshi doll? I have never heard of them....
They are those Japanese wooden dolls. Look in the gallery at Gifts from the Orient. That set has a stamp of 2 Kokeshi Dolls.
Man, I am so out of it...did not realize they were a trend. They are always in style here! Honestly though, if I did not live here, I don't know that I would necessarily care for them.
So for the OP's question:
1) Trends I love: Asian themes (LOL), script writing combined with a "normal" font on sentiments, Tree/Branch sets
2) Trends I am sitting out: Owls, Cupcakes, Hot Air Balloons
3) Styles/Trends coming up next: I wonder how soon it will be before the 1980's influence our colors. Neon, anyone? ;)
It's so funny that so many of you aren't in to cupcakes when EVERY company is doing them! As much as I love cupcakes, they're even in my blog name, I haven't really been in to that trend, either.
1. What current trend do you love?
2. What current trend are you sitting out?
3. What trends do you see coming up next?
1. CAS...hopefully it will outlast "trend"
2. Let's see...robots and swirls and felt and primas and chipboard and...
3. Hot air balloons for sure...think they'll oust butterflies.
1. What current trend do you love? buttons, silk ribbons, gingham (is this a trend??)
2. What current trend are you sitting out? hat pins on cards; huge cards full of a ton of stuff; owls; cupcakes; large headed children, especially with no features;
3. What trends do you see coming up next? peacocks; indian themed stuff (the country); jewel tones; sales...

I love trend talk!
1. CAS, stars, gray as the hot neutral, silhouette stamps
2. Kokeshi dolls, although I think they are cute I don't need any, Basic Grey the paper company... I know they are not really a "trend" but I keep waiting for that smudgy dirty look they have to go away.
3. I'm on board with the hot air balloon trend but I think it's already hitting. I don't know right now what else...

1. What current trend do you love? Butterflies and birds, but butterflies especially!
2. What current trend are you sitting out? People with little bodies and big heads and no mouths
3. What trends do you see coming up next? I don't think I am qualified to answer this, since my first thought when I read this thread was "what's a Kokeshi doll?" but I would love to see background stamps come back in.
I find it hard to tell what's a trend . . . I think I'm usually the last to know.
The current trends I like are: Buttons, birds, distressing.
The current trends I'm sitting out: Cupcakes, pirates (love SU's Beware Pirates though), skulls.
Trends coming up: Who knows?! I really think fabric is on the horizon - I'm going to get ready by finally starting to stitch on cards.
I think there will be something specifically earthy. Nature, florals, trees, etc. will never be "out" but I think something in that realm will be featured, like birds/owls now.

Just about spewed my coffee on that, Joan! It was an easy one to skim on by, but I caught it!
I have never understood this "trend" thing in papercrafting- other than from the manufacturer's position of "sell more, sell more".
If you have it and like it, use it. If you bought it and don't like it, get rid of it.
There are certainly enough beautiful cards shown here every day using "old" stamps and "old" techniques, to show that the trends are just marketing ploys.
It is even worse, IMHO, when I read these threads on scrapbooking groups. I love when people post about how they would never use their pattern scissors now because they are "so out of date". Like my grandkids in 20 years looking at a family scrapbook are going to say "wow- Grandma was so out of date- she used wavy scissors in 2009 and they were passe by then".
1. Current trends I love: I love the cupcakes, hot air balloons, sillhouettes and the new colors (I've been seeing SU's in-colors all over the clothing stores too.) I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the Nestabilities
2. Trends I'm sitting out: like someone else said, I'm passing on Copics, I prefer other coloring mediums to markers, and it's just too much cost. There's too much other stuff I want
3. I could never predict what trend is coming up, since I'm one that usually doesn't jump into a trend until it's nearly past me, but I could see flowers becoming less popular and other types of nature stamps such as trees and animals being more popular.

1. What current trend do you love? Sounds crazy, but I'm not really sure what the current trends are. I just buy what I like
2. What current trend are you sitting out? again, don't know what they are
3. What trends do you see coming up next? haven't a clue.
1. What current trend do you love?
Swirls, Birds, Owls, Woodland Creatures, Skulls, Tattoo-inspired images, Penguins, Cats, Silhouettes, Cupcakes, Coffee-themed images.
Copics, Bling, Distressing, Grunge, Scalloped and other intricately shaped frames and edges. Cuttlebug-style embossing. All patterned paper.
2. What current trend are you sitting out?
Headless & featureless people.
3. What trends do you see coming up next?
Feathered images like peacock feathers. Mosaics. Mehndi designs. Jewel colors. Re-using old and new supplies together in an effort to embrace the "green" and "thriftier" values caused by our economy.
However, I am afraid of Paperkins and other paper dolls reappearing. Oooh. Scary stuff.
I could never predict what trend is coming up, since I'm one that usually doesn't jump into a trend until it's nearly past me, You're talking about me here!!!!!
Love the CAS, butterflies, owls (kinda)
Hope the cupcakes go out soon. I've also never gotten into the faceless/headless people.
Future trends? See above :>)
What do you foresee in "fabric" -- using it on cards???? What? I'm clueless.
1. What current trend do you love? Backgrounds, Large images that I can color in like sugar Nellies. I love stamps with horses, large font sentiments and Digital Images
2. What current trend are you sitting out? Cupcakes, balloons, robots, silly stuff, unusual flowers and robots. I am tired of cutsey baby stuff, gimme more mature things that I can actually relate to.
3. What trends do you see coming up next? I hope for more romantic type stuff, less wild papers. Things that will make me go AHHH

All seems kind of silly, doesn't it?
My thoughts exactly. I am so not a trend person. If I love it, I do/use it. If not, I don't. Simple as that.
But what is it about those featureless people?? Lots of responses that we don't like them, but there they are... marketing... ugh.

Wanda
Absolutely. There's already a lot of crossover with papercrafters who sew, quilt, etc., and plenty of interest in fabric-related stamping products/embellishments. Also, a lot of people sew on their cards. Seems like a natural thing to me. But then. . . I've been wrong ~ lots of times ;)
1. What current trend do you love? I love anything natural looking. Trees, flowers, birds, animals oh.....leaves of all kinds. If it doesn't look "real" I usually won't use it. Also, "realistic" fantasy, celtic, occult.
2. What current trend are you sitting out? Anything "cartoonish". Oh man, I can't stand hot air balloons, goofy lookin kids, cards over loaded with embellishments, odd ball vintage stuff. Passing on copics. Too expensive.
3. What trends do you see coming up next? Well, I'm gonna start using more fabric and sewing on my cards. I don't really care whether it becomes a trend or not. I have an enormous stash of fabric, and a perfect sewing machine with lots of stitches to use on cardstock.

I'm another one who doesn't really know what's so-called trendy or not until it's almost over! Being out west and in a smaller community we get the dregs-if anything-of new things in our stores, so we're always behind whatever is in style. Don't get me even started about our dismal new clothing and accessories selections!
I figure if I make an older "trend" card, who's to know? Besides you all here, LOL!

1. What current trend do you love?
ribbon/designer paper/stickles/dewdrops
2. What current trend are you sitting out?
Copics and faceless kid stamps
3. What trends do you see coming up next?
I hope you are all correct about fabric use. I have enough for everyone on SCS....actually I started cardmaking with fabric about 8 years ago, hoping to use up some of my fabric stash. Ha! Little did I know it would lead me into a whole new world of "stash".

:mrgreen::mrgreen: really who knew? Remember that saying? ...... she who dies with the most fabric wins? Well, I think that would also hold true for cardstock and stamps! What fun!
Anyway, I think it's settled then. The newest hottest trend for card art will be fabric and fibers!
