Default Question for those who've used Stickles...

I finally got some of these and decideed to play with them today - used them to put centers in some punched-out flowers. They looked as if they were going to take some serious drying time, so I left them on my desk and didn't get back to them for hours. Now, they still seem slightly "wet", but the puffiness that was there when I first applied it is gone and the glittery stuff is flat.
Questions:
Is this the way they are supposed to look - flat and glittery?
Can you speed up drying with a heat tool?

There are no directions on the bottles, so if anyone can fill me in on how YOU use them and what you mainly use them for, I would love to hear! Thanks

Claudia

Mine always dry flat and glittery. I've got several colors and this is the result I get with all of them. If you are looking for a "puffy" center with sparkles it is best to use glitter and Crystal Effects.

Thanks, Kelly! I wasn't necessarily looking for puffy, in fact I was surprised when I squeezed the bottle and it came out that way. I just didn't know what it was supposed to look like. Do you ever speed up the drying with a heat gun?

Oh and I use them for the center of flowers most of the time but also put the stickles where I think something needs a little more glitz. I love stickles.

http://www.addictedtoscrapbooknig.com has them at 2.29 a bottle I do believe. There is also a code to get 2 dollars off your order to on the General side.

I "heart" Stickles. I have prolly 20 different colors. There are several clear stickles that have different tints to them. Crystal stickles brings out the green hues, Diamond stickles brings out the blue hues and Stardust stickles brings out the red hues. They are all beautiful. All of the other colors they have are exactly what you see in the bottle. They do take a long time to dry depending on how much you put on your card. A little goes a long way. And it does dry flat unless it's a glob in one spot, then there might be some puffiness. I use it to highlight lots of stuff, flower centers, leaves and stems and even snow on wintery trees or snowmen. The clear works especially well when applied to inked or markered images as it well appear the same color it is applied to with the blue, red and green undertones. My favorites are all of the clear stickles "Crystal, Star Dust and Diamond" and also Waterfall, Eucalyptas and Fruit Punch. HTH

No, Claudia, I usually leave mine overnight to dry and then finish up the project the next day. I'll have to try the gun thing and see if it works...

I've done the heat gun and it works pretty well. I was hesitant to burn my paper and kind of impatient so I just dried so they were almost there not wet, KWIM? They still had to sit out a little but if they got bumped they wouldn't smear.

Thanks so much for all of you for your replies - now I know that what I experienced was normal for these little sparklies! I'm gonna get some of the colors that Charlee recommended - I have the Diamond, Silver and Red, so will check out the websites given and get some more

LOVE Stickles! You can brush them on too, for a glittery overall effect - fun! I love Crystal and Icicle, also Patina.

Here's another question. I bought two sets of three stickles (in packs) @ Hobby Lobby, but am not sure which ones they are. One set had a silver and a dark blue, but also a white/clear one with red-based (?!) sparkles. It was not Crystal, and the sparkles were bigger than the ones in Crystal. Anyone know which one this is?

All my stickles have the names on the top right hand corner of the label. I know that the Stickles brand has several different formulas. Ice Stickles is one, and it is mostly pastel colors. I have not seen them in packages of three, but that sounds like a great way to buy them. The white/clear one with the red tint may be the icicle formula. What size bottle was it in?

It is the same size as the regular Stickles, but none of the ones in the sets have any labels on them. When I purchased them I looked on the packaging to see if it listed them, but it didn't. The Ranger website does not list groupings and the Hobby Lobby site (it's affiliate) shows only one grouping and it's not the right one. Weird, no?

I saw them in Joanns in packages of three. In fact, I'm going there on Saturday to pick some up. Michaels doesn't carry them. First place I found them was at a LSS.

I have a JoAnn's and a LSS near me, but believe or not, no stamping stores. They've all closed!! I'll try JoAnn's or my LSS.

I found some yesterday in Joann's in the scrapbook section, I guess kind of by the embellishments. They were in 3 packs, and they only had 2 assortments, neither of which appealed to me. The bottles didn't appear to be individually labeled. I also looked all over the paint section, glue section, and glitter area to see if the carried individual bottles because I'd heard on SCS that some places had them in different areas than scrapbooking, but nope!

I am in Canada and havent found Stickles locally, so I always buy from www.franticstamper.com. Her prices are reasonable, she carries most (if not all) the colours and she is fantastic to deal with. I am not associated in any way with this place, just know that she treats her customers well and its fast shipping too.

i'm confused with stickles... I usually use the 2 in 1 glue and pour glitter on top - it sounds like the same affect, but just a differnt way of doing it? less messy but longer to dry?

nschukraft -- I would think it would be less messy for sure. As for the drying time, I do let mine dry overnight and then I know that its dry for sure. I love using stickles, it just adds a little fun to the card.
