Question re Pay Pal

I would like to get some feedback on Pay Pal from anyone who has it - both good and bad please. Being outside of the US I'm finding it difficult to subscribe to some newsletters (e.g. Technique Junkies, which I would love, but unfortunately they don't take credit cards, only Pay Pal) and sometimes also for buying online. If I get an overseas Bank Draft from my bank here to send to the US, I have to pay an extra $25 just for the service, before the actual amount I need is calculated! Works out quite expensive. I'm reluctant to sign up for Pay Pal until I know a bit more about it from those who actually use it. Obviously their website only tells you all the good things! Has anyone had trouble with it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I use it quit often. Bad,Bad Girl. I've never had a problem.

ShadyStamper 04-02-2005 06:38 PM

I have used it many, many, many times, both sending and receiving money (more sending than receiving though) and I've never had a problem with them.

stampin1 04-02-2005 06:42 PM

I had a problem once....sold a sweatshirt on eBay, and the person said they never rec'd it (even though they left me positive feedback) (!), and so Paypal took back the $. Their resolution department leaves a lot to be desired, because it is my impression that they often side with the buyer and not the seller. That's an eBay experience, though - not just an act of sending $. I am sure you would have no problem with that! HTH.

good feedback

I've sent money on paypal for over 5 years without an issue. I don't use it alot, maybe 50+ transactions, but all without a problem.
I wouldn't think twice about recommending them.

I dont even want to know how many times I have used my paypal account - probably will blow me away just as the amount of $ in my craft area would! ANYWAY I have only had one problem as well and it was a buyer who said they did not receive the goods as well but luckily I had followed all the "rules" and got confirmation of delivery - I had sent the pkg via UPS with the customers UPS number!! She was a con and had several other ebay people looking for her for HUNDREDS of $ ANYWAY that is the only bad thing to happen to me in many many years of using Paypal.....gosh it has been since they opened up I think!

Do you get charged so much if you have an American Bank account?? Not sure how all that works!

StampinMelis 04-02-2005 07:39 PM

I have only had a problem once, as a seller on ebay. Buyer said they received my item damaged. PP revoked payment and investigated. Buyer was found to lying, so money was refunded to me. It took about a month, but it did work out. Other than that, smooth sailing since I opened an account with them when they first started.

Paypal has always been good to me. I did have to use their complaint resolution department one time because I did not receive goods from the seller (SU Stamps) and although it took a little longer to resolve than I would have liked, it did work out in my favor. I received ALL of my $$$ back. I give paypal an AAA++++

stephydoodles 04-02-2005 08:03 PM

NO probs here

I also use Paypal quite often to send and receive $. I have never had a problem. It does sound as though it would be better to use delivery conformation if you ever decide to sell.

My husband and I have used Paypal for 3 years now, Ebay and private transactions, and not one hitch. I would recommend it completely!

I have had paypal for almost 5 years and have had not a single problem. I love it and it really makes life convenient and I can upload only the amount I am allowed to spend and not have to worry about over spending or charging up my credit card.

I have used Paypal for my business transactions for a couple of years and have had no problems. It is very easy and reliable.

How funny, I just sent a paypal payment to a friend in WA to cover some things she sent me last week. I use it quite frequently and have never had a problem.

craftykate 04-02-2005 10:32 PM

I can one up everyone on this. We paid for our used car on Paypal. I sent the wrong amount and called the seller. She refused the payment, which cancelled the transaction and I resent the correct amount. Tadahhh!!! It was that easy. I have been using them for 3+ years and haven't had any problems.

I love using Paypal for sending or receiving money.

My only word of caution is to beware of "spoof" emails pretending to be from Paypal. Don't ever give out personal information in an email. They have an option on their website to read up on it so you can prevent any possible problems. This is happening with banks, ebay, etc. - - not unique for Paypal.

Ahnna 04-02-2005 10:57 PM

I have never had a problem w/ sending payment w/ pay pal until just recently... I got a notice that said, "The amount of this transaction exceeds your remaining sending limit and cannot be processed at this time. You will need to add and confirm your bank account to remove this limit. Once your bank account has been added and confirmed, you can continue this payment. Add your bank account information below." I have a bid problem with giving out my backing info! :?

i've used it for several years and really like it. had one problem (on ebay) where i didn't receive items and paypal took care of it within a week.

Jenmouer 04-03-2005 05:05 AM

I have used it for about 3 years now with no problem - I did just add one of my bank accounts because I sold a bunch of stuff on E-bay and wanted the money (In the past I would just let the $ sit in my paypal account and use it to buy things from E-bay) - I have a small personal checking account that never carries a big balance so I used that one to link to Paypal...if you are concerned about adding a bank account check with your bank - if they offer free checking then open up a separate checking account and stick $50 in there.

I have also used it to pay my SU demo...love the fact I can just use Paypal to pay her and to request money - haven't had a problem with it at all...

jdmeeks 04-03-2005 05:33 AM

I use if very often and have for the past year - never had any problems!

paypal

I use it all the time to buy and sell on ebay, as well as my demo and I look for other sites that take paypal. I have had several problems with sellers on ebay that did not send what I paid for. Last week I had one who I purchased stamps from on ebay. I bought them 3/15 and still had not gotten them two weeks later. I tried to contact the seller many times and his emails would come back to me. I then contacted ebay and paypal to see what they would do. I got my money refunded to me and then I heard from the seller who wanted his stamps back since he refunded my money! I again contacted paypal to advise them of a threat sent by this seller and they are looking into it again. I love using paypal!

I've had Paypal about 5 years now and it has been nice to have, makes things easier in some situations. I wanted to verify my account (which means having your bank account on there) but, my hubby beat me to it on his Paypal and Paypal only allows one Paypal account per bank account. So now I have to use his if I want to use money in our bank account. Oh well, just glad to have the convenience :) I have never had any trouble with it, course I've only spent never recieved money through them.

stampinCPA 04-03-2005 06:56 AM

I've found it to be a very easy and safe form of sending and receiving money. I would think it would be great for you as you're not here. I've never had a problem with them.

Ha! I had the opposite problem. Bought an item on ebay, never received it and PayPal wouldn't do a thing. Fortunately my credit card company did. Other than that I haven't had any problem with PayPal. The only thing that I don't like is that after you've used it for X about of dollars they force you to add a bank account. Now I have to make sure the dollars are coming from my cc everytime I make a purchase. I would like to just have it come out of the bank account but the fraud protection on my cc has already paid off once.

shellca 04-03-2005 03:41 PM

I've been using paypal (sending and receiving $) for a few years now and haven't had any problems.

laurabell 04-03-2005 04:02 PM

I have had a paypal account for 2+ years and love it. It is very easy to use both for receiving and sending money. I have a business acount and wish I had a personal account because paypal always charges a transaction fee for every sale I conduct. I would prefer not to charge more for selling a stamp set to cover the paypal fees. Just my only complaint. I would recommend a paypal account but to try the personal account first.

hookandstamp 04-03-2005 04:06 PM

I love it. It lets me sell products to folks in other states. It lets me buy stuff of the bay. It's swell!

Tilly 04-04-2005 12:12 AM

Wow, thanks to all of you who took the time to reply to my need for feedback on PayPal. I will now definitely look into it - the +'s seem to far outweigh the minuses. Appreciate all your help.
