Default Question re modge podge....

Hey all, I am making a gift using a tin and would like to put something over the paper to protect it. Does anyone know of a "home" recipe for something similiar to modge podge? Like watered down glue or something. I live a distance away from town and forgot to pick some up. Would I better waiting and purchasing the real thing? Thanks in advance for any help.

I've always thought that Mod Podge was just over-priced white glue! : )Anyone know for sure??

Have you already made the tin? I have read on SCS that if unless you glue the paper on with Mod Podge too, then sealing the paper with MP will cause warping and bubbles.

Default Recipe

I found a recipe on www.answerway.com for making your own mod-podge. But since I've never tried it, would recommend testing on a small project first.

Homemade Mod Podge: Mix 1 cup of white glue with 1/3 cup water. Add 2 tablespoons of varnish for gloss finish. Keep in a container with a tightly sealed screw on lid. Use for decoupage projects.

I've already glued the page down with white glue. Will sealing it with Mod Podge cause bubbles or warping?

I have heard that it does. I think that one of the issues is the tin. Porous surfaces like wood are a little more forgiving.
Perhaps some kind of spray-on finish, done in very thin layers would work better? I don't really know.
