Anyone know about the cards for the troops - we have a night set up to make cards to send and I am wondering where the greatest needs are - encouragment for the soldiers or if they need more cards to send to those they care about.
Any one know? I tried PM serikastamper (spelling?) but have not heard back.
And I need to get some ideas started so I can get some supplies.
thanks for any help

This morning I just mailed off 35 cards that my women's group at church made for the soldiers. Mind you they were first time stampers so despite my coaching, aahhummm, some of the cards turned out so-so (at best!!). Still the message inside was touching and I'm sure they'll be appreciated!
They actually enjoyed it so much that I'm sure we'll be doing it again in a while...
That sounds like an awesome place for cards - and we will probably get them off some cards after we meet. But, I am still wondering if anyone has heard an update on the Splitcoast Troop Cards - I would like to send some of the blank cards for them to use if they still are in need as well as the cards of encouragement.

There is a web site in my signature if your group would like to send cards to the soldiers to show your support. Carol explains the program on the site.
As a military wife and stamper, it's my opinion that blank ones are always best expect for specific holiday cards. That way not only are you sending a nice card you're giving the soliders an opportunity to write/use the cards for their personal use. Kind of like a 2 for 1 sale \.

I just finished making birthday cards for my BIL's unit to send to people. I made some male and some female birthday. I hope to make a few more this weekend and get his package out next week.
I asked him if he needed anything and he said "oh just some cheap birthday cards for the guys to send out." Cheap birthday cards...LOL! I laughed at that and told my husband I am not buying cards I will make them!!
We are still sending cards to the troops (see the link on the homepage)
I am the contact person but not the send to person....not until Sept anyway...then I will be back in Charleston and I will be taking over for my friend Heather who has so graciously kept the cards flowing overseas for us...
The trend is that we always have more blank cards than "support cards" so if you would like to include a note PLEASE DO! I know that if I were a soldier overseas it would mean the world to me to hear from home and know that my sacrifice is appreciated!
Thank you all for sticking with us through this year while my hubby and I are not in SC.....can't wait to get back there...BELIEVE ME! LOL
thanks for all your response - we will get some cards out soon! Maybe blank cards with a paper note in each - that way they can get encouragement and a cheerful hello

My husband is currently in training to go to Iraq, he'll go on March 11th to Iraq. I sent the guys a box of 40 cards, all I could make while working and taking care of 3 kids ;-) He said at first 'noone' wanted them, but after a few guys caught wind of them, I guess they all changed their minds and they were gone just like that ;-) This weekend I stamped a little and will do it when I can, but his unit has over 150 soldiers in it. So, if anyone wants to stamp or has cards laying around that need to be put to good use, I'd really appreciate it (and so would they!). I'm not trying to take away from anyone else's efforts, just thought I'd throw it out there
