Default stamping up splatterer(?) question

hi all....i purchased this tool several years ago that when you put a marker in it and pump the air pump thingy, the ink from the marker is supposed to splatter on your paper.....i can't seem to get it to work....i have tried several types of markers except for the stamping up ones because i don't have them and my copics because they are too expensive and i don't want to waste the ink....any suggestions on getting this thing to work?

thanks so much!

Are you putting the tip of the marker far enough in? Is the marker water-based? Does it have enough ink? Are you squeezing in a quick motion?

I LOVE mine! (I also use it with no marker in it to blow off excess embossing powder)

yes, it does, there's a little notch in the end and the marker tip should be nestled up to it and past it. A marker has to be pretty juicy for it to give off a lot of spray. HTH!
