Lightbulb Magazine ideas.....storage?

Well after 3+ years of subscribing to various scrapbooking magazines....I'm trying to get rid of some stuff to make room for our new baby #3 .....the "nursery" had been turned into the computer/scrapbooking room! ;) I just can't keep storing all of these magazines. I hold onto them with the thought that I will go back and reference ideas that I've seen in the them....but I never do! So....I'm trying to think of ways to keep the good ideas, but not have it take up so much room. Honestly there are times when there are only a handful of ideas in a magazine that I might want to use....other issues there are tons of ideas. What does everyone else do? My first thought was just to tear out the ideas and put them in some sort of binder, but I'm afraid that too will become cumbersome and I won't ever look at it. Then I thought about scanning any of the ideas and saving them in different files on my PC...so if I'm looking for a neat vellum idea then I only have to look at that folder. Has anyone else done anything like that....any pointers? I know it would be time-consuming to do, but if I just went through a magazine at a time and scanned what I needed....eventually I would get them all done. Then I have some friends at work that I could give the "hand-me-down" magazines to.

I think your idea of scanning in the image and saving it in the right folder is wonderful! I now need to convince DH to get a scanner! What a solution to the HUGE stack of mags I have!

My suggestion would be to copy each page that you want to save and then put them in a three ring binder. You could divide it into categories.

I too like this idea! I have 12 years of craft and garden idea mags. I did go through and clear out any with nothing that interested me. I am going to scan. One disk - 4 shelves, much less to dust! LOL I'll keep all my SU mags whole. I can always pass them on to future downlines.

I had a similar problem - but I know that I won't scan the pages, it just takes too long. And I like to have the "idea" in my hands. I picked up some large 5x8 index cards from my supermarket. I cut out my favorite cards & LO's and tape them to the cards. I sort them (scrapbook by # pages, cards, techniques). I store them in a pretty basket.
