Default Published Cards Payments?

Just love all the cards and different gift ideas I see in all the card magazines.

What do they pay if you get published? I've always wondered!!

Thanks!

If you go to the website of the magazine, it would probably have an info page about submissions, which should outline their policy about re-imbursement. For some it is just 'braggin rights', (good for your personal resume`) for some you get a free magazine, I suppose there might be some that actually pay...but look at the huge number of pictures they have in the magazine- and imagine what the cost would be if they actually paid $$$ for them.

It's common to compensate with a couple of free issues and some samples from the companies that advertise with them. I know that that is Cards magazines compensation. Papercraft pays cash, I think it's about $35-$45.

They may offer more if it's some kind of special feature or cover, I haven't had that honor yet! :]

If you use Hanna Stamps and get published, Hanna will pay you $100.00. That used to be their policy and unless they have recently changed it. Isn't that a great deal if you love Hanna?!

A couple of paying magazines include PaperCrafts and CardMaker. I want to say CardMaker was something like $75 a card but they also like you to do the inside as well as an envelope. The best scenario is to have a card published where the manufacturer offers a publishing incentive. For example, Odd Bird Planet does this so I usually send out a bunch of stuff to Take Ten and if stuff is published I get free stamps

Not quite that much for CardMaker...lol

It's $25-$45 depending on the project.

It's always worth checking this out. As others have said, some magazines pay and some don't; likewise, some stamp manufacturers have reward schemes too. Some of those will be detailed on their web sites (some have already been mentioned here, I know CHF gives a $25 store credit to spend on stamps) but if you don't see anything there, just drop the company an e-mail to let them know you got something published with their stamps (they'll often want to see a copy of the page from the magazine) and ask if they offer any reward for that. The worst that can happen is they say "sorry, no" and it only cost you a couple of minutes to ask!

oopsie-doodle, lol - I must have been looking at the check through rose-colored glasses, lol. Sorry for the misinformation - it was a while ago when I was published with CardMaker.

Anyone know about Just Cards??? I'm thinking that is the mag I am most likely to get published in based on my style, but you have to mail the actual cards...so I'd like to know before I do that.

Also, PaperMakeup stamps will give you a GC if you get published with their stamps...I believe it's $25

Wow, do I have egg on my face! Thanks, Dina for the link.

This site is full of wonderful information. Don't know the name of the owner of Dragonhome's Place, but he/she has done a wonderful service.

Just Cards desn't pay for publications. They send a free issue of the magazine your card appears in. Hope that helps!
