Default Would like some help with Pretty Peony stamp set

I'm sort of new to stamping and just picked up my first SU order yesterday. I ordered two sets and one of them was Pretty Peony. I went to the gallery and did a search for ideas. While reading some of the stampers comments I got the impression that this set is sort of challenging to work with. Does anyone know of a blog that might have tips on this particular set?

On another note, I had no idea that the rubber would have to be cut. I've been reading some posts on this topic and I hope I'll be alright with it. I don't have "rubber" scissors so I'll have to get a pair. I'm hoping that Michaels has them.

Thanks for any advise on the peony set.

Here's the link for the gallery of Pretty Peonies--136 cards.

When you trim the rubber, do straight cuts and make sure you don't undercut (cut on an angle). It's really not too bad, but you do need a good pair of scissors for the job.

Did you get a copy of Stampin Techniques - it's a little square booklet -with your order? It has some tips for trimming stamps.

Call you SU! demo she would probably let you borrow her Craft and rubber scissors and then you could order a pair with your next order. They are worth their weight in gold! I take mine a couple of times a year to Joanns when they have siccor sharpening, only cost a couple bucks and they are as good as new! Happy Stamping!

I have an extra pair of the rubber cutting scissors which I will gladly mail out to you.
I live in Canada and if you are in the USA I have no problem sending them out as quickly as possible to you.

Here's a tutorial on how to use the stamp-a-ma-jig. In the tutorial, it specifically uses Pretty Peony.

Thanks everyone for your offers and tips. I was able to pick up a pair of Tim Holtz snips today and I've cut out my peony set. I haven't stamped with it yet. Michelle, your tips on using the SMAJ was just what I was looking for. I already have one of those but hadn't opened it yet. Guess I need to get to it!
