Poly Chrome Pencils

I am searching to find the best Polychrome pencils... can anyone give me some good tips and tel me why you like the ones you bought?

Polychromos pencils are a line of oil-based colored pencils made by Faber Castell.

Prismacolor Premier are a brand of wax-based colored pencils.

Both are artist quality pencils. They are on the more reasonably priced end of the artist-grade colored pencils. (Caran d'Ache in the Luminance or Pablo are definitely much more expensive, for example.)

Each one has its pros and cons. I have been using Prismacolors for many, many years but am considering adding Polychromos to my collection.

I would suggest doing an online search for "Prismacolor or Polychromos" and watch some videos that compare the two. You would need to make the choice as to which type you prefer and how many pencils you want in a set.

I love my Polychromos because they’re so smooth and they look great on colored cardstock. I splurged and bought the set of 60 when I had an Amazon gift card, but you can also buy individual colors at DickBlick.com to give them a try before jumping into a big investment.

I have both types and love them both. I am still learning the basics of the polychromos in particular. They are both great pencils, but work a bit differently. Like hultenlk suggested, it might be helpful to purchase a few of each to see how they differ and what you like using.
