Default Poll: Reinkers

I haven't bought any reinkers yet. I don't know why... guess there are more exciting things to buy!

So, do you buy reinkers do go with all those stamp pads?

Default guess there should have been a "none" option

I'm really not good at these polls

I've found the reinkers are great for dying white grosgrain to match your cardstock and inks, and for doing the polished stone technique, in additional to keep your ink pads juicy! I started out buying them in my favorite colors, then just added one reinker every time I placed an order. Still don't have all of them yet!
I also just did a card of a beach scene. I used a couple drops of tempting turquoise and a couple drops of cool caribbean on a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol and swiped it over glossy white cardstock, then let it dry. It made for a beautiful skyline, and when I placed a piece of white vellum layered over the blue, I had my ocean!
Hope you find this helpful!

I have all the refills - love using them with baby wipes techniques, watercoloring, juicing up pads, shaving cream techniques....

I *try* to remember to get them when I order the pad, but that only seems to happen about half the time.....

Randomly, but when I bought the In color pads, I also bought the reinkers so I would not forget to do so before the end of the catty. I have that sort of luck, retired color pad, no reinker, so I cut out all possibilities for that, now I just have to stock up on CS.

I bought the spots over 3 years ago and they are just now really needing to be re-inked. I am buying the reinkers one set at a time rather than individually. I like the boxes they come in for storage (until my FIL finishes my inkpad/marker/reinker holder )

There are so many great ways to use re-inkers, it is nice to use them even before the pad needs re-inking.

I thought that I would to wait to see if I really use the color enough to need a re-inker. But then when I see all the clever techniques using ink directly from the bottle, I think that I should buy more. Annette is probably right and I should just buy a bunch of pretty colors.

I started buying them in colors I used the most. Now I'm buying families. Buying them seasonally seems to work for me. (Subtles in the spring, Bolds in the summer, Earths in the fall, Regals in the winter.) That's overall when I use the families the most.

I mostly get mine after the fact, but as I've gotten more into techniques that use re-inkers, I try to get one whenever I buy a pad, especially with the colors I think I'll be using a lot of. I'm tired of wanting to use a technique that requires re-inkers and find that I don't have the color combination I want to use. So, now I usually throw in a few re-inkers with each order. A few more orders and I'll have them all. Then, if my ink pad isn't stamping as well as I'd like right in the middle of a bunch of cards I won't have to worry if I have a re-inker for it or not!

I buy them with the ink pad in case I'm doing a technique and need to coordinate the two.

I just placed an order and it included my first 4 re-inkers. They are for some of the first pads I ever purchased years ago.

Only about 75 re-inkers! I guess I never thought about needing a re-inker for every pad? I better start buying more re-inkers and less ink!

I did as someone above stated. I bought a few colors that I thought would look nice together. But I just ordered the new In Colors and got all the reinkers for those, just in case. I also wanted to be able to dye my white grosgrain with them. I ordered the silver reinker for the polished stone technique. I think I will start adding more to my orders so I can have them all. There really are a lot of things you can do with the reinkers.

I have them all and they used to be my favorite for watercoloring before the crayons. I started out years ago by buying all the pads and then I moved onto the re-inkers. They wonderful for so many different things -- if you don't have any definitely invest in some, you won't regret it!

I'm working on getting all of them, now that I have all of the pads. I'm doing it by which colors strike me though, and only a few each time I order. I have all the BB's, and most of the other 3 groups. Think I'm missing about 13 now.

I am slowly getting all the reinkers. I try and add 2-4 on each order. I tend to go by favorite colors within the season. Some day I will have them all and will be able to do all those neat techniques I see without having to adapt to the colors I have.

I buy the reinkers when I have money to spend. I haven't re-inked any of my pads yet. I've used the reinkers for watercoloring. When I do buy them, I buy them as the family.

I chose randomly since I just started buying the whole color family at once. I got one family with each order. I use them mostly for other things than re-inking.....although, coincidently (sp?) enough.....I just reinked all my pads today! (for the first time)

Before I was a demo, I had a huge workshop and used ALL the hostess benefits to get reinkers, so that I had them all. I never wanted to spend "my" money on reinkers, so I used the hostess benefits. I'm so glad I did it. If I hadn't done it all at once, I probably would never had done it, and I'd still be stamping with dry pads.

I love having all the reinkers for different techniques. I get cranky when I have an idea in my mind and can't do it because I don't have the right supplies, so my motto is "Just buy it all at once - you know you'll use it."

I've yet to have a stamp pad wear out on me, so the only time I buy reinkers is when I've got a project in mind that needs them, like baby wipe technique.

I'm a hobby demo and if I am near $150 for hostess benefits...I will buy a reinker to reach as close to $150 without going over. Also I get the classic reinkers as my $15 in product as the hostess benefit. It works out exactly and you don't have to do a lot of complicated math. I've acquired most of the reinkers this way. Much easier to have a reinker on hand when the pad runs dry!!

First I bought random ink pads. Then I got smart and started buying them as sets (filling in the ones I had partially bought). When I was finally done, they made the new colors, so I went and bought all of those pads. Then, I started buying the re-inkers one family at a time. Now I need to get both in the new colors. Then I can really concentrate on stamps.

At the same time as buying the ink pad sounds like the best so you don't have to worry later on.

I didn't even know they came in a box if you ordered them by color family! Huh...now maybe I need reinkers!
But, I answered 'whenever a pad gets too dry.' So far I only have black and brocade blue, but the brocade blue is the 'old' one, and I've already replaced the pad.

I voted when ink pad runs dry, but I respectfully changed my mind. I love Yvette's work and she uses reinkers to color with an aquabrush and I must admit it is my new favorite way to color, you get such depth. So now I want them all!

I buy them very randomly, usually when I need to round out an order or 'spend' some hostess benefits. I've had some of my pads for several years (I still have a lot of the old style) and have re-inked only a couple. I like to have the refills on hand, just in case.

Except for black, chocolate chip and close to cocoa - I reach for reinkers more often than the pads. I much rather have the reinker than a marker.

learned my lesson the hard way and when you need a reinker and don't have one its the worst. so now I buy them as I buy the pads. I also figure this way I am for sure not going to have any varience in color too. not that that has ever been the issue so far.

I used them today actually, baby wipe technique on glossy cardstock. Love it! I really needed two colors I don't have yet... I like the idea of adding one or two to every order. I have just been ordering them randomly for specific techniques.
