Default Poly Shrink vs Shrinky Dinks

At risk of sounding very silly.... Is there a difference between Poly shrink and Shrinky dinks? I would like to try making a bracelet - but am a bit unsure which product is better (if there is a difference) When using the heat gun to shrink is there a smell at all? I bought Shrinky Dinks at Micheal's and am wondering if I should use SU! poly shrink instead? Any advice?

Hi there! I am not really familiar with shrinky dinks but I am under the impression it is the same or very similar to polyshrink. There isn't really a smell when using the heat gun unless you keep it in the same place for a long time. When making a bracelet I "cook" my polyshrink images in the oven. I will attach directions. Have fun with these! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Hi Joleen,

Thanks for the directions for the bracelets. I'll give them a try and let you know how it turns out. Hmm... I wonder how much "quiet time" my girls will give me so that I can "play"? Might have to come up with some bribes. Oh! Where is the best place to buy bracelet blanks?

Well, I buy mine from San Gabriel Bead Co. (www.beadcompany.com) but I am not sure if they ship. They are BY FAR the best price.. many people hear have a hard time finding them. If you buy 10 they are 70 cents each.

I did find the same ones at www.skybluepink.com for a little bit more.

I would try your local bead store too.

I tried the link to CreditCardCastle, but I couldn't find any of the blanks for bracelets. What is their "official" name?

Keri- That is great!! I'm looking forward to it. I only know a couple of stampers here in the Tampa area so far. There are some Demo's that live "near" me, but they have sort of an exclusive policy that extends to their immediate upline/downline. One said I could sort of join their group, but their meetings consist of everyone meeting at her house, buying supplies from her and taking her classes. No real way to expand doing that. I guess it's good news in a way, because there is potential for teaching others to stamp, but there's not much in the way of support. So I look forward to being with other stampers any time I get the chance! Also, I did the search on that site and it keeps coming up with a blank order page, LOL! My computer hates me this morning

Default Shrinky Dinks

I just did a WS last week and one of the guests asked if there was a difference, too, since she had some non-SU shrink and her Wonderful Wings project shrunk to teeny tiny. I happened to be demoing it that night and so we did a project and said ours shrunk to a much nicer size. The way she described hers, it shrunk at least 75%, and ours only does 50%.

I had some non SU shrink stuff and it shrunk sooooo small! Then Joleen (thank you, thank you thank you) sent me a little bracelet butterfly and a non shrunk butterfly and comparitively SU! DOES NOT SHRINK AS MUCH! I am going to buy some SU! as soon as I get my craft pads!
