Default POLL about your working status-just curious

I realize that ALL mothers work. When I was home with my kids until they were all in school I worked very hard. Now mine are older and I work outside the home full-time but still make lots of time for my hobbies. Just curious as to the status of women here. When I say "work" in the poll, I mean work outside of mothering/housekeeping, etc.

My kids are all grown and out on their own. Now they are the ones with the little ones. My kitty, however, does demand a large amount of my time. Work is theoretically relegated to 40 hours a week and I try very hard not to bring it home with me (and that even works some of the time.... )

If you are wondering why I put this in this forum, it is because I am wondering if stamping and working are in any way related when it comes to free time.

As of April 2005, I am a SAHM. I worked more than full time in a corporate payroll office. Loved my job until we got a new director, then the whole place turned to chit!

I went out for maternity leave for DD and never looked back. DH was a SAHD for 3 years, so I told him it was his turn to get a job! He did and I really like staying home. It took a good 6 months to get in the swing on things, though!

My stamping time would be greater if I got my rear out of this computer chair

I used to work full-time outsode of the home, but after 2 years of working with a young child and 1 year as an SU demo I was able to stay at home. My DH's paycheck covers the "bills" and my SU paychecks cover the "fun" . I said less than half time I work b/c I set my own hours but do plan for my workshops and classes and take the business part of my SU career as seriously as the creative part.

I have been a SAHM since June of 1997, but I didn't start stamping until about five years ago...

I work part-time, but I work from home. So while I do have a "real job" I do it from home, surrounded by kids! Although when school starts in THREE weeks (yeah!) my youngest will be starting school so I can work in peace and quiet!

Oh, and I make time for my stamping/scrapping early in the morning. I get up when DH gets up for work and use that hour or so to stamp/scrap.

Default Work

I'm on staff full-time as an administrative assistant at our church.
I work for four different ministries (Women's, Men's, Counseling, and Singles).
I've been there eight years and really like it (most of the time).

I don't have kids - but I have a DH and two dogs.

I don't make as much time for stamping as I should. But that's no one's fault but my own - I love being married (8 years in October). My DH and I love doing things together including attending lots of sporting events (Tennessee Titans, Nashville Predators etc). My fellow church staffers call me the sports information director because I keep up with all the local teams.

I work full time in the office of an architectural finishing hardware distributor. Accounts Receivable, a little Accounts Payable, a little of Purchasing, a lot of secretarial work. And I love it. I would LOVE staying at home with DD more... someday maybe.

I checked the last option ... but I do a LOT of volunteer work at my dd's school (depending on the time of year, probably 1/4 to 1/2 time). We don't have a librarian, so I'm it!

I have a desk for my things in the living room, so when DH is playing video games or watching tv & DD is asleep, I can stamp/scrapbook right next to my hubby!

I wish I did work again! It was o nice doing 10 hrs. a day and coming home with just a few things to do!

Now, I'm on 10+ acres, I am partially disabled from a fall, do everything outside and inside and by the time I get to the stamp desk, I'm flat worn out! LOL

I wish I had more time to spend stamping, someday I'll re-tire (that's tired all over again!) and have more fun!

I'm a stay at home mom. Have been for nearly 16 years. I do lots of volunteer work with my kids' various activities--dance, theater, sports. I also spend quite a bit of time on church stuff. Stamping is my creative outlet--it's very therapeutic to be able to finish a project!

I'm married, with no kids. I am in the military, so I work full time. Now that I just finished my degree, I come home and actually have time to stamp instead of homework. It's great. But all good things must come to an end. I'm going to pursue my Master's degree and all my stamp time will be gone again. Oh well!

I work full-time, 28 hours in the office the balance (sometime more than a total of 40) is telecommuting.

I'm also an SU Demo which constitutes most of my stamping scrapping activity.

I'm looking forward to retirement in 2.5 years and dh is afraid he'll never see me cuz I'll be so busy doing all the things I wish I could now but don't have time!

I was a stay at home mom until my daughters were in school all day. I worked part-time as a preschool teacher for 5 1/2 years. It was like a full-time job because I did take a lot of work home with me. For the past 6 years I have been working full-time in the children's department of our local library.
I plan storytimes for 4, 5, & 6 year olds and help plan special programming.
I have only been stamping for 2 years. My husband plans on retiring in February 2007. I would like to retire soon after that and work harder on getting my stamping business going.

I work one day a week. I've been with the company for ten years. After I had my first son (February 2001) I went back part-time. I worked a few months then gave my notice. They talked me into staying on one or two days a week, so I picked the one day a week option and I've been doing that for almost five years. It's great!

I work full time and I'm going to school, so my stamping time is extremely limited right now. But I get the month of August off from school, so some of my homework/study/practice time can go to stamping!

I also have a husband, 13 yo dd, and 6 lb toy poodle. So basically, I have 3 kids.

I teach preschool one day a week for now, hopefully will pick up more days once my little one is in kindergarten. I have 2 kids, & luckily for me they play *pretty* well together so I can sneak off here & there & either chat or stamp. I do most of my stamping before they get up, & after they're in bed. I've only been stamping since January so it wasn't an issue before. But I'm glad I found it, & I'm glad my dh sorta understands it, lol!!

I work full time, at least 45 hours a week; unfortunately, that leaves me very little time to stamp, (since I spend most of my free time on here!!!), and I am sometimes very jealous of the ladies who are home and can stamp and complete every challenge! I was lucky enough to be a SAHM when the kids were little, (best thing I ever did) but that was a long time ago! I know, I know, it's all in prioritizing and organizing, but who's got time for that? I'd have to give up gallery gazing!

During "busy" season at work, I work full time 40 hrs/week. Slow season rolls around (which is now) my hours get cut. down to more than part time not full time currently.
I am about to look for another job though, the hours just aren't cutting it.

I feel like I work full time. I have 5 children the yongest 2 are now teenagers. The past two years we have had 2 foster babies. Right now we have a 9 month old and a 7 month old. I never knew what a full time job it is until I got our youngest. He is a drug addicted baby with sensory issues. Up all night and cries all day. They keep saying that he will out grow it. This is truly the toughest job in or out of the home I have ever had. Stamping is my sanity. Did I mention that we are adopting our 9 month old baby. At 50 I am starting motherhood again. These children are true blessings. Not complaining just explaining.

I work about 20-30 hours a week from home. Some weeks it is harder than others to get stuff done. THe kids are driving me nuts today so I stopped for a while to browse here. Every time I started to type they started fighting with each other.

Even though I work from home I don't get to stamp much. During th day if DD wants to stamp, great, but I don't do any "work" stamping with her since she is always stopping me to ask me what about this, etc. I usually do One-Sheet Wonders with her which is the best thing I can do that doesn't require much thought process. I save them for later when I can cut up and use for cards. Otherwise I stamp and/or scrapbook on nights if all the elements are there: When I don't have work to do after dinner and dishes are done and DH doesn't want to spend time with me, and on nights I get both kids down to sleep at a decent time and I am not exhausted. Those nights are RARE!!!

My kids are grown now (ages 30 and 33), but I worked full time starting when the oldest was about 6 months old. I was blessed to have an awesome daycare lady for them. She also took care of my niece and nephew, and she was like their 3rd grandma.

I still work full time, but that "retirement" word is getting closer (she says with a smile). Still a few years to go though.

Hey There!

I work full-time at an office doing the M-F 8:30 to 5:00 grind (cummute about 90 miles round trip, have my SU demonstratorship that entails 3-5 workshops a month mostly at my house and I do subcontract work on the side! I am involved with a church group and have the ladies to my home once a month for meeting. I do am the housekeeper, chief cook and bottle washer and - good thing I don't require much sleep!

I often laugh and say I work harder when I am home than at the office - you SAHM really do not get all the credit you deserve. It is such a tough job!

My joy is my wonderful DD and my DH! DH is working hard and long hours so hopefully, I can make a shift and leave the M-F 8:30 to 5:00 world behind and have more time with our DD (she's 4).

I went back to work when DD was 8 weeks old - I simply had to being home was not an option. From time to time I feel guilty about it but being that she is an only child I appreciate the time she spends with the other children and I think she does to.

As far as time for stamping - any time I can find! My DD and I make it something we do together. She loves it! She got after her grandmother recently about buying a card. She told my mother it was better to make a card 'cuz it's done with love andwhen grandma didn't know how to stamp she offered to show her.

They had a fine time stamping together!

Okay - I am babbling . . . I was prepping for a worokshop last night until 2:45!

I work with a paying job, but it is inside my home. I am a WAHM/medical transcriptionist. I type about 5 hours a day---some days more, some days less.

So I am a SAHM. We do without a few things--mostly are extras. I am a SU! Demo, but I do not count that as work as I only do two classes a month. My income from that goes directly back to stamping/scrapping. It just keeps my stamping $$ from coming out of the household budget. I also make as many gifts as possible--that is where I really feel the difference between me and my paycheck friends--they seem to be more free to be generous to others.

I was working full time as an elementary school computer lab manager. I had to go on short term disability (I have since resigned my position) because I had major spinal surgery last January. I am loving being home and being able to stamp anytime that I want. I can't do much sitting, lifting, bending, etc so am not able to do much even though I cheat and do it anyway. It is so interesting to read what others are up to. Thanks for posting this, Annabelle.

I didn't vote because there wasn't an option for working out of your home... My hours are so erratic based on free-lancing, but maybe 1/4 time? And an SU demo and SAHM, but I stamped back before I had kids when I taught college, too.

Me too!

I've been at home now with my 4 children since my oldest was born 6 years ago. I've never looked back (I haven't gotten college education so it wasn't a real hard decision either!). My time is split between the kids, babysitting, playing piano/flute with our church musicians, and stamping and scrapping! I get to play in the afternoons when the youngest 2 nap and then again in the evenings (my hubby has a lot of night time meetings).

Work 40 hours a week in the office - 20 hours a week commuting - 10 hours a week volunteering in some form on my kids sports teams - hmmmmm, no wonder I never have time to stamp!
