I like that idea! I have a bunch of different widths of black and white polka dotted ribbon to hold up there...Might be a nice compromise....hmmmmmm.....
Thanks!

I would NOT DOT it!! Being there is already so much (cute!) dotty stuff going on, the plain black shelf gives the eye a place to rest, and look at your fab creations on it!!
Do you want to see the dots or do you want to see the cute cards on top???

Go ahead and do it.
I'd hate to think what would happen if your dh thinks he has any say at all on your stamping room

Life's too short not to surround yourself with stuff you love. You love polka dots, so paint the polka dots, I say! Like someone else pointed out, if you don't like 'em later or if they do detract from your displayed items, you can paint back over them.

Polka dots are really cute but personally I think your shelf will look better if you keep it the way it is. I think it would be visually distracting for the shelf to have dots on it. IMHO shelves are there to display items and feature those items and they themselves should basically fade into the background. I think you'd have some pattern clash if you painted it. In any case, it is your room so do what you want! But if your DH is really against it, throw the poor guy a bone.

I voted no polka dots. I think it looks great the way it is and from I can see the polka dots make great accents in the room.

I voted dont!! I would cut polka-dots out of white contact paper. Then you can change the decor any time you want!

I voted no polkas even tho if it were my room, I would be tempted to I heart them soooo much! I wasn't sure how 3 dotted shelves would look. Maybe do one and see! Whichever you choose will be perfect for you. Love your studio!!!

i agreed with the other ladies... i voted NO polka dots. those shelves are so classy i think the dots would ruin them.

I say leave the black shelf as is - you need some all black and all white things to balance out the black/white polka dot look, IMHO.

You're talking to a polka dot queen here but this time I say NO to the polka dots on the shelf. Really it would cause a distraction from your cards and they are the focus. Niki

Well not to be left totally behind even if I am a day late and there is no poll for me to vote on I say leave it black too. It will match that little black cabinet you have in your room.
Just looked through your stamp room photos in your gallery - loved them. It brings new meaning to that saying "seeing spots (dots) before your eyes). LOL!

Totally agree. I'm a big fan of polka dots but I think that would really take away from your great display of cards.

I wouldn't....But it only matters what you like! I just decided yesterday to break it to my dh that he is terrible at decor. (Unless you like collegiate dorm room) So in that dept. I only listen to myself. Boy, I am mouthy this morning.

Another polka dot lover who wouldn't add polka dots to the shelf... I think it's a nice accent without and really lets the item on the shelf shine.

Thanks everyone for your input! Really! As you can see the poll got wiped out with SCS being down yesterday....Which basically is my opportunity to pretend the no polka dots point of view wasn't winning by a landslide!
I still have mixed emotions...I am not gonna to anything at this time...Yesterday, I was gonna dot it....today I am not! Yikes...how can this be so hard! Maybe I will just re-do my whole room and go with stripes! LOL!

IF the swap was specifically for risque or weird humor, I would definitely enjoy the humor. If the cards just popped up in a regular swap and I THOUGHT they were funny, I wouldn't mind. I the swap had a theme and the cards didn't fit the theme, I'd be irritated. If some random person sent me a card like this, I'd be concerned. If a close friend did, I wouldn't mind.
See, all a matter of where, when and how the cards popped up.
Thinking about pop-ups....I can think of a couple risque ideas.

Between reading the posts, answering the poll and posting my reply, the thread totally changed.
Kinda funny.
In a twisted way.
