To polka dot or not to polka dot....That is the question!
I got this awesome new shelf with a 40% coupon at Michaels (Thanks Carn for the idea) and I plan to buy two more to hang on the wall opposite this one to display more of my treasures!
http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=80269
My husband and I are having a slight disagreement (again!) about whether or not I should put white polka dots on my shelf. I say yes (go figure!), he says no! My whole stamping room is black and white polka dots (it makes my husband sea-sick!) Why shouldn't I put white polka dots on it? I am posting a poll in the general forum to prove my case! Help a person out?

I wanna come see your room! I LOVE polka dots. In fact, most of my clothes are black or white, and many of them are polka dotted!
Soooo my vote was yes. Why not?

You have a very cute room . . . polka dots seem just perfect as I know they will be tastefully done. Off to check to see if I can find more pictures of your room!

I voted not to polka dot--think the polka dots will take away from the stuff you have displayed on the shelf.

I agree with chicoreco. The sold black shelf really makes your cards POP. If you paint polka dots on it, it will be visually distracting.

I voted not to polka dot, even though I love polka dots! I think the shelf looks great as it is! Like the other poster said, it makes your cards stand out nicely, and it might draw attention away from your beautiful art!

I voted NOT to polka dot the shelves, only because I think that having some solid black items will accentuate the polka dots that you are using around the room.

Well I voted for the dots but now that I look at it the solid black accentuates (sp?) the polka dots on the other things. But you should do what makes you happy!

Your room looks fabulous. I emhasize the word "your" -- on the other hand, it can take so little to make the men in our lives happy, so you might want to throw him this one --in exchange for something else of course!!

I said no polka dots, I think it would make the shelf too busy and detract form the awesome samples you have displayed.

I just took a tour through your craft room. It looks great! What a fun stamping oasis. It looks like you have polka dotted your little heart out. Why not a few more on your new shelf? It would fit right in with the rest of the room. I voted yes to the dots!

I love polka dots too! But a little goes a long way. Nothing wrong with a bit of solid in a polka dot world.

Polka dots rock and normally I would be with you...but from the picture it looks like there is a whole lotta dots going on. Have you ever thought about painting the other shelves you get in a dramatic red as that may complement the black white theme. BTW--what a cute space...I'm totally jealous!

After a quick tour of your craft room......very impressive craft room...... I go with NO dots on the shelves. The solid black will better accentuate your displays on your shelves. While you're at it, have you ever considered painting the trim around your closet door black? That would tie in beautifully with your shelves.

Yup, I agree. If the idea is to showcase your work, then the shelf needs to fade away, and polka dots would put the emphasis on the shelf, not your beautiful work!

No polka dots....will detract from the look of the stuff on the shelf. And you should really have SOME plain to break it up, it's kinda a design rule, right??

Love what I can see of your room! I voted no polka dots cause it looks like you have quite a bit in there already. The solid shelf is super cute!

Whoops! Thank goodness for the edit button in the gallery! I had posted this over there thinking that I was posting it here, and then I couldn't figure out where it went!
What a beautiful room you have! Does anyone call you Dotty? Just kidding. It really is gorgeous. How funny that you have dotted everything from the stapler and trashcan to your chair!
To dot or not to dot is a REALLY tough questions!! I think if you do the whole shelf it would definitely take away from your artwork, but maybe just around the edge. Or how about doing one shelf and leaving the other two without dots? Compromise is good!
Good luck on your decision!

Have you played around with the size and density of the dots by using repositionable adhesive to tack some white CS dots on your shelf? The look won't be quite the same as it would look painted, but it would give you an idea. Then you could take another pic of the faux-dotted shelf and post it too.

what about a row of dots on the bottom of the shelf? Poss a piece of ribbon with cute tacks so it is far enough from your cards as not to detract?
