Okay! I am very frustrated with Stampin' Up! I had a customer order 12" x 12" paper specifically for a project she is working on - she needed to cut 3" x 4" pieces of paper.
She got the paper very quickly - only to discover that one pack is 12" x 12", and one pack is 12" x 11 3/4". So I called SU! and was told that this is correct - it is intentionally short on one side so that when scrapbooking it "fits better into a page protector. Now I am not a scrapbooker, so I expect that when I order 12" x 12" paper it is 12" squiare. SU! advised me that this is not a defect so there is nothing they can do.
Which now leaves me the bag. I am going to order her an extra pack so she can get the same pieces of paper that she planned on without having to eat the wasted paper herself.
Have any of you experienced this? Or am I out of line here.
This morning I was trying to put together a 6x6 album using the birthday scrappin' kit for a show I have this weekend. So I grabbed what I thought was 12 x 12 and tried to cut it into four 6x6 sheets...well 2 are 6x6 and the other two are not However the patterned paper in the kit is true 12x12 (I measured it) Go figure!!!!!

Many "12 x 12" scrapbooks are not that either, as the pages aren't fully 12 inches...quite frustrating for papers that ARE actually 12 x 12. There really isn't an industry standard!
I don't think you're out of line. If they say it's 12 x 12, it should be that size. Otherwise, it's falsified packaging. Whose's to say that all people who buy 12 x 12 paper will use them for scrapbook pages? I certainly wouldn't. I would call DS again. Perhaps you will get someone else who can help you.
I have found that even the 12x12 papers I buy in our Ben Franklin ARE NOT true 12x12. I think most companies do that so that they fit better in the albums.
thanks ladies for all your input! the second time around, SU! agreed to send her a corrected packet, with the understanding that the dimensions would probably also not be 12x12, but at least it gives her the extra paper to complete her project.
Hmmm....that explains why my recent 6x6 paper-cutting frustrated me! I was going to blame the new cutter! I'm going to check measurements on all the 12 x 12 paper now...I'm way too analytically retentive to have stuff not match!
I had noticed this a while back and complained to SU!. I was working on a project where I was using a 12x12 paper template and after I figured out the problem, I had to spend lots of extra time adjusting my measurements. It was so frustrating. :?
It doesn't state anywhere (from what I could find) that the 12x12 paper is shorter. My thought are...if I need to shorten my paper because of a bulky page fitting correctly in a page protector, then leave it up to me to shorten it. I would prefer that we get a full 12x12 sheet.
I agree. They did indicate that the shorter dimensions are mentioned in the Product Guide, but I think it should also be mentioned in the catalog. I know that I haven't reviewed item by item the description of each product in the guide.
Live and learn! I guess now I know, and will better be able to serve my customers
