I've only been shopping SU since 2009 and got most of what I liked, but I do remember ladies were petitioning for "the man" a while back. I think it was a cowboy image of some kind. What I'd like is more in the lines of sentiments. And that cute personalized stamp that looked like a tag.
I really like PTI's way of making room in their warehouse. They don't retire sets, but send them to the Vault instead. They announce which sets are going into the vault, then give you 60 days to purchase those sets at regular prices. Once they go into the vault, the prices are automatically doubled: $24 sets are $48, $15 sets are $30, etc. Doing it this way also prevents eBayers or other sellers from asking exorbitant prices.

I guess I am lucky that the majority of my Stampin' Up stamps are from the 1990s. They are among some of my favorites and include:
All Aboard; Harvest of Friendship; Home Tweet Home; Decorator Shelf; Love Bakes; Button Bear; Coast to Coast and others.
Other early items I'd like brought back are:
Old Fashioned Stove (coordinates with Love Bakes); Classic Cars; Classic Trucks; Simple Pleasures; Holiday Shopping; Fleur Cart; Wild West; and maybe even Sunflower Tea Cup and Wildlife (with critters that looks real).

I would like to get the Chocolate Bunny, but not for the $40 some people want on ebay.
Try looking on eBay in the summer or fall. I saw it last year and it was a buy now that was less than $20. When I saw it, I remembered how many people were paying big bucks for that one, as well as Sock Monkey (gives me the creeps!) and a beautiful Santa from Gumball Stamps.
I could kick myself! I am my only customer now, but I was a business demo almost 10 years ago, so each year I got rid of retired stuff by holding a special event. It was so popular that I sold every retired stamp set from back then. Boo! What was I thinking?!?!?!? There are many sets I would love to have back, but I won't repurchase them. I will live and learn instead!
I wanted the soon to be retired Honeycomb Happiness with that cute little peep but there's no way I'll get it now since it retires on the 31st and we won't be ordering again until April 2.
I rarely buy the newer stamps. I found I just like the older ones better. I think they have more character or are more artistic or something. The last few catalogs there hasn't been anything that just jumped out and said "buy me". Not just Stampin' Up! but I tend to look at newer stamps across the board that way.
When I look through the old Stampin' Up! catalogs though, I just drool!! I have several old catalogs from when I was a demo (2008-2010) or something like that and several older ones that my sister-in-law gave me from past years. I tend to find something I like in those and then look it up on ebay or here on the Buy/Sell forum. I really have found some older sets I just love at good prices by watching the forum here on Splitcoast.
I've always been more of a papercrafter than a stamper so I'm really getting into the stamping aspect of it more in the last few years than I did before.

Kathy,
You can order yourself online with your demonstrator. If you want it to count towards the April workshop, ask your demonstrator for the Hostess Code and your order will towards the totals. I do it all the time with my SU! Card Club.
My demo doesn't have an online SU store but even if she did, I don't order online. I do everything the old fashioned way...paper and pen. I miss out on a lot of stuff but I also save money!

Me too ! That is exactly how I operate too. A few of us still out there haha
Since they already have the designs wouldn't it be wonderful if the sold the retired sets in clear mount or photopolymer? I would love dumping my wood stamps for ones that don't take up so much space. That would be a win win for me!
