Lightbulb Perfect Layers, not just for cutting layers!

When I was making this card last night, my Perfect layers was within reach, so I used it to space the panels that I had already cut.

Yes I am an anal retentive perfectionist.

1. Adhere your first piece of paper.
2. Lay perfect layers as you normally would, butted up against the edge of the paper with the desired width spacer.
3. Adhere the next panel by aligning it to the other side of the "ridge"

Perfect 1/16th spaces between my panels! Clear as mud?!?

Dittos to what everyone else has said! I'm the same way with wanting to have everything evenly spaced and I finally quit doing the "four block" style cards because it was SUCH a dicey thing to get the spaces between the blocks the same!!!! Using the perfect layers tool to solve this design problem is genius!!! Thanks for sharing...of course, now I will HAVEto buy the Perfect layers tool.

Carrie - I got my Perfect Layers through QVC - love it! Just be sure you hold the blade straight or you'll cut nicks out of your rulers. Don't ask me how I know - I'm so anal I had to buy a new one.

Hi,
Love all you guys and your comments on the Perfect Layers tool, but I am anal too, cause I don't know what QVC means! Obviously I am not much of a shopper...sorry, don't mean to make our gender look bad. Obviously it is not a Stampin' Up tool. Thanks for keeping me informed. Dottie

LOL! Actually Perfect Layers is the brand name for this layering tool, produced by Stampin' Up!

It has also been marketed under a different name/different company via QVC.com (the online store for the infamous QVC shopping channel on TV).

Basically, it's a plastic ruler, with metal edges, and channel guides for perfectly trimming out your mat layers at specific measurements.

I don't know what other companies actually call the tool, but I'm sure plenty of other folks around here do.

A perk that ordering from QVC does NOT provide: if you order it from your SU! demonstrator, she can actually give you a personal demonstration to show you how to use it!

HTH,
