How often do you use your scrap papers and what do you make with them
I am trying to get some new ideas on ways to use my scraps Rather than just keep putting them in a pile and storage container. My storage container is so full.I need ways to use them.
I just joined a candy card swap.So I was thinking this would be a great opportunity to use all those scrap pieces of paper since they need to be small pieces anyway.
What is the fastest way to uase these up.

I just went through my scraps and made 48 bookmarks for my kids to hand out to their classmates. I have these cool plastic bookmark sleeves that I needed to use up.
1... decorate the front of a journal or a larger size card with tags et cetera
2... punch out little circles and use them to look like rivets or hinges.
3... cut odd shapes and add them behind the main image.
I love using scraps -- it makes me feel so frugal (or maybe it is stingay?). I used the first two ideas on My Journal
I don't especially like the way this one turned out (clashing colors), but it gives you a picture of the 3rd idea. More Chicken Soup
I store all of my scraps with my 8.5x11 paper. That way, when I get the paper out to use it, I look through the scraps first. I find it is the best way for me to use my scraps! (All of my paper is held in hanging folders in the little portable totes sorted by color.)
I store my scraps in quart-sized OneZip Bags, one SU color per bag. I keep these in a drawer in one of my Iris Carts. When I need a relatively small mat/layer, I look there first. And if I'm doing any punching, I reach for those. When I hold Stamp Camps, and we're going to be punching, I put out a bunch of my scraps and they get used up in the punching.
I also keep 1/4 sheets of cardstock, organized by color family, in a photo box right next to me on my stamping table, and I keep 1/2 sheets in file folders in my file cabinet. So I know where to go if I need cardstock to make a card, make a layer, and use a smaller piece. It's great system that works for me. My full-sized sheets are in their own SU color hanging file folder in my file cabinet.

I do this too. Scraps are in a page protector in the front of the hanging file for that color CS. Since I've started doing this I find I use my scraps a lot more. I just check the page protector for a piece big enough before I cut a full sheet. The hanging files are in a 2 drawer file cabinet near my stamp table.
I use the scraps for punching stuff - can't stand punching one little thing out of a whole sheet of paper! But I have to try to remember more often to check for scraps for layering. I don't put something in my scrap file until it's less than 1/4 sheet in size.
I have mine sorted by rainbow color order with a slot for black and white in one of those little paper file folder things. Then when I have a project I'm working on I can just pull my scraps out and use them. I don't keep the really tiny pieces just the ones that are probably about 2x2 and above. I don't use all the scraps but it does keep me from cutting a full piece of paper each time.
I keep scraps together from each project so they are already color-coordinated. I use them for punches, template drawings, paper piecings, chipboard letters (to cover them with), and color-blocking on cards and scrapbooking.
I've used punched shapes of different scrap papers to make my own background paper (this used up a lot of scraps).
I keep scraps that are larger than a quarter, and strips that are half-inch wide or larger. The rest I throw in the trash because I found I don't use it at all if it's smaller than that.
Here's a tip for small scraps that I read somewhere: if the scrap piece is too small to hold still in a punch, use a sticky note to hold it in place. Then peel the sticky note paper off the punchie afterwards.

This is what I do too! I put the scraps into page protectors in the front of the hanging folders so I can look throught them easier. I use up my scraps this way!
I use scraps to punch out with like many others say, sometimes test them on, and if they are big enough, use them as layers, or fold into odd size card shapes (smaller cards). I, too, organize them by color, alphabetically in my file folder separate from the full sized cardstock. Works effectively for me.

I've been getting ready for an upcoming craft fair. I've found that I'm using more scraps now than I have in years by making 3x3 cards, mini notebooks (layers are small), pens, mini post-it-note holders. Also I go right to my scraps first when I'm making a name frame. I find it much easier to use SU scraps because of the color co-ordination than my other papers.

I would refer to you as frugal, Garnet.

I just learned how to do the faux teabag folding technique with the square punch from SU--this cleaned up my scrap bin in no time! No more 11 inch strips laying around getting bent.
I also punch the flowers from the Spring Boquet SU punch (which I love love love) and keep them in a little eyelets container so when I just need a quick one I most likely have it already punched in a coordinating color.
Otherwise I keep my scraps that are less than half a page in separate bags divided in basic colors, like all the greens, all the blues, etc. Then all the bags are in a storage bin close to hand!
I'm going to go upload my favorite scrap-using-up card right now and I'll try to figure out how to insert a link to it...

I like the technique on page 16 of the current IBC - strips of color across the card. I use the faux stitching instead, because I don't like to drag out my sewing machine (DH finds things for me to hem, & etc.)
