Person A : What are going to sell ribbon for this week?
Person B: Buy one get one free. We have a warehouse full of this stuff to get rid of!
Person A : Next let's go with 40% off Scrapbook storage , 50 % off flowers and 60% off framing
Person B: We have had those sales for the last 6 months!
Person A: I know but we have to fill up the ad page
Person A: Lets go with 2 for $8 on the generic cardstock
Person B" They didn't buy it when it was 3 for $10 what makes you think they will buy it at 2 for $8?
Person A: They probably won't, but then next week we will put it back to 3 for $10 and it will look like a bargain.
Person A: We need two more things. Any ideas ?
Person B: How about Circut cartridges $39.95 and photo boxes 5 for $10
Person A: We have very few Cricut cartridges and what we have are old ones
Person B: I know, but it brings them in hoping we got some new ones.
OK We'll go with these and a 40% off coupon

Too funny. I thought I was the only one who was unimpressed by Michael's sales flier. I cut out the coupon, put it in my purse, drive right by Michael's and wonder if there's anything I want badly enough to go in for. The answer is "almost never"
I love your take on their ads. I find everything at Michaels 'Ho Hum' - boring. I can almost tell you everything they have in their store. I cannot believe they are selling Spellbinders dies for $39.95 ea (in Canada) and when there is a coupon they put them on clearance for $39.95 ea so that you can't use your coupon on them.
Joanns is no better. They have the same things on sale over and over.
Then, like now, when they have a huge scrapbooking sale "conveniently " their web site doesn't work.
Magically It will work perfectly when the sale is over :(
My Joanns is so poorly stocked I'll bet many of you have more in your scrap room than they have in their store .

hehe that is too cute. I had to read it to my hubby. It sounds like what they're doing. Makes me want to collect their flyers and see how it varies from week to week and see the trends. =D
So funny and so true! Both Michaels and Joann's are an hour away from me. I go armed with my coupons, but so seldom find anything I want. I went to Scrapbook Expo this weekend. So much fun to have so many new products to look at--and buy!
Barbara, you're a hoot! I'm forwarding your resume to Michaels Corporate. They need to have you in reserve in case they lose someone on their staff.

I don't want you to send this to Michaels! It was for our fun.
I will ask the mods to delete it
Barbara
No need for that, please, Barbara. I was just teasing you. I wouldn't dream of sending anything someone wrote here to a company. What happens at Splitcoast, stays at Splitcoast. Sorry I upset you.

Didn't Michaels just get in trouble for their long running "sale" on frames? I think they were legally called to the carpet for it. I still see it though.
I believe it is not a sale if it never changes prices
tooo true! I do use my coupons at Michaels for things I need, like glue and what not. And I bought quite a few Slice cartridges when they were closing them out ($4.99 each). Also buy water color paper when it is on sale...and a few other things, but I do lots more shopping online as I can get what I want...when I want it at a price that is much better.

Its not just the craft stores...our local supermarket cracks me up when it does BOGO sales and they simply double the regular price of the item (who pays $4 for a bag of chips EVER?????)
ROTFL! Exactly! What worries me is there are still a lot of people that fall for these tactics.
Brains? Anyone? Anyone?

Spot On Barbara!!! The ads I get from Michael's, AC Moore, & J's are identical it seems. It may be the same person/agency
I rarely go to those stores because of the ads. When I do, it's because I want to get something off the wall...like spray paint etc....*and* if I can use my coupon!!

You know, you would think they were the same company. I was on holiday in Naples, Florida at New Year and persuaded my long suffering friends to drive me to Michael's, Joann's, A.C. Moore and Hobby Lobby. So disappointed. Their stock was almost identical. Even the selection of Spellbinders dies and Martha Stewart punches were the same in every store. :(
Saw an alligator in the ditch outside Hobby Lobby though. That made up for the disappointment!
Oh my...I think I am reading that very ad right at this moment! Do you suppose they have the same sales meeting conversation every week? This was just too funny but unfortunately very true.
Hi Amber!
Happy to see you are well enough to post here!
I was wondering how you are doing.
I'll bet physical therapy is ugly.
When I had rotator cuff surgery it was not fun
The new laptop is coming in handy
