Default Anyone else like doing this....

Does anyone else like cutting & mounting stamps? I enjoy doing it. In fact, one day, I went to borrow some stamps from a neighbor. When I saw that many of her sets were unmounted, I took them home to do it. My friends think I'm CRAZY. Just wondering if anyone else is as crazy as me! Oh, and I do like stamping more than mounting!

You are not alone. I find it relaxing. I cut and mount my friend, Carol's. She hates it. When she orders I mount them and then deliver.

Oh I love to mount stamps... I have a few people that absolutely WON'T mount the stamps so I do it when they order from me. Then I know they are done right and not have to be redone!!

I also like cutting and mounting my stamps!! I have done it for others, also. I just had a workshop yesterday, and one woman asked if I would be willing to do it for her - I jumped at the chance!! It's a sickness! Just kidding. I sit and watch TV and cut away . . .

Looks like I'm in the minority! I really don't like to mount my stamps. I think part of it is a fear that I will cut somthing off that shouldn't be cut off! Or mount them wrong...I know that sounds weird since I've been mounting SU stamps for almost 2 yrs now, but it creates anxiety for me!

I enjoy trimming and mounting also. I just don't do a lot at one time.

If I borrow a set that isn't trimmed well I'll start cutting off the excess. If you don't have it trimmed properly the ink ends up where you don't want it. I did that with the stamp owner sitting beside me and she just looked at me with surprise then laughed and said I’m a perfectionist.

If you’re careful when you trim you’ll have a piece big enough to make your own design like I did. Got all my circles that way, a shadow square and one with lines and one really cool squares within a square that looks like a Hero Arts stamp design.

I also can't handle the labels overhanging the stamp so I'll trim it off of the sets I borrow. I'm obsessed with stamp neatness!

When I first started stamping, I never liked mounting them. Now I like it. I find it is relaxing and the benefit is having my stamps mounted exactly how I like them to be. Sometimes I have to re-mount stamps I had purchased at a store already mounted because they were mounted crooked. I hate re-mounting. That is a pain, so with a few exceptions, I only buy SU stamps now so I don't have to re-mount them.

I love to do it too!!!

No decisions to make, I can see my progress and what I have acomplished, I know I won't have to do them again in a few hours or the next day - unlike dishes, laundry and cleaning.
I can get a feel for my newly purchased stamps - kinda fondle 'em a bit - ya know!!!

But that's just me!

Default Mounting stamps

I hated it in the beginning~ I think the main cause for this was I was trying to use a REGULAR pair of scissors (BIG mistake). Since I bought the SU!'s craft scissors it has been a dream, like cutting through butter! I know can't leave a set unmounted. If it's in my house, its getting trimmed! I LOVE instant gratification (sp?).

I am so bad about mounting my stamps.
If you like to mount stamps I guarantee you could have a field day at my house! I have more unmounted sets than I have mounted.

I'd be the cousin who cut Kerilou's stamps in the beginning!! I love to do it, I usually take them to work and do it on my break. I also make a photocopy of the sheet of stickers before I cut and adhere them to the blocks to keep in the bottom of the box - it makes a quick and easy reference to what stamps belong with a particular set.

THank you, Thank you for sharing in my obsession! It's so good to know I"m not alone. YES, the SU scissors made the difference for me, too. Now I want the Paper Snips!

I love mounting stamps. But you have to have the rubber scissors - it really makes a difference. But, ask me later this week after my order comes. Between what I bought (collage alpha and numbers) and what my 400$ party earned I'll have alot to mount. And my friend ordered several sets and I always mount her stuff too. Oh boy I can't wait till it all gets here.

I love to cut rubber! Yes, must have the scissors! The only thing I'm still uncomfortable with is having the label exactly line up with the rubber image.

I think it is very important to keep the top blade of the scissors in full contact with the rubber for each cut (less distortion and no chance of slicing off part of the image).

Sometimes I snip until my hands are sore.

Oh, and I "always" spray my blocks. Its tricky to do during the colder winter months, so I'm in the garage. Come summer I'll open up the doors and see what the overspray has done!

I think that if I were a "normal" SU customer, I wouldn't mind too much - as long as I had a pair of their craft & rubber scissors. But being the freak that I am, I receive shipments of about 20 stamp sets at a time, last month I got all of the alphabets I didn't already have. So I generally have a couple hundred stamps to mount at any given time. But if I'm only mounting one set, I do enjoy it

I don't mind it at all. I will usually stick in some tunes and the time passes so quickly. It makes me so excited because everytime I mount a stamp I get closer to play!

I like it too! It relaxes me also. I also cut any for customers that do not prefer to or are unable to for a nominal fee. They are more than happy to pay me to do it. Granted they are not buying the Craft & Rubber scissors, but they more than make up for it in other things. *They buy more because they know they'll be able to stamp as soon as they get their order and it won't just sit there until they get around to cutting them.*

Plus, I can get a free pair of scissors when I need a fresh pair through Great Rewards!
