Default Paper Piercing

Hi all,

I have seen the neatest of neat piercing on cardwork and am wondering if there are any really fab piercing templates I could purchase? I do have the little mat one from SU that goes with the eyelet mat and a couple of others...don't know the brand names....but not in the lovely rectangular or circle or oval presentations I am seeing on others' blogs.

Any help in this regard would be totally mag!

Thanks in advance!
Michelle

Yep...I have some of the Ornare templates. I was really wondering I guess if there are any ...like....simple lines...simple rectangles etc out there. I do not want really fancy stuff...jut the simple lines, corners and shapes....

Must be that everyone is super good at doing the piercing...I am not....it comes out crooked...not a good look!

Thanks for sharing that site though...It is worthe the visit.

The classy dots there are more like what I was wanting...with the row of just holes.

Is there any other brands out there at all? Surely there is something and I am just missing it?

I hope so, coz I so need to straighten those pierces!

I think all of the classy brass have some kind of holes for paper piercing.

Here is a tutorial on making a scallop border:
http://whoistracy.com/myhead/index.p...-Tutorial.html

And this blog has a lot of info:
http://melstampz.blogspot.com/2008/0...stitching.html

I think some people use that plastic canvas thing that you can use for yarn. It looks like screen but the blocks are larger.

Hope this helps.

I use the plastic canvis things. They are available at Hobby Lobby and Michaels but Gina K sells them in a set of 3.

For just classic rows, SU got the mat pack, I think that is what it is called. That is what I use. It is only 9.95. I love mine, I use it all the time!

Definitely look for the plastic canvas pieces! You can get them at any store that sells yarn and needlepoint supplies. They're so cheap- maybe less than fifty cents? They come in all sizes and shapes, and you can CUT them with regular scissors to make shapes of your own.

Also on Ellen Hutson under Pergamano, they have piercing tools that come with multiple pins so it makes the shape of a star, square, etc. They are supposed to be for vellum. I guess you could email them and ask if these would be ok to use with cardstock.

I have ordered the Tim Holtz ruler, am going to try Beate's very clever method to round curves nest time I have a curve on my card, and will look for the plastic thingie next time I go into town.

This has given me renewed interest in paper piercing ladies...Thanks...

Any other ideas still out there?

Michelle

Hi ladies...To further my pursuit of this topic...I wandered off to the local haberdashery in town. There I found "Darice" Perforated Plastic 14 Mesh in a 8 1/4" by 11" sheet. The holes are nice and weeny, so I can't wait to try it out. Thanks to Tracy for suggesting this. I would not have thought of it on my own!

sewing with no thread is nice...
make lines of dots and then slice into ribbons of impossibly cute loveliness!
try multi dots by zizzag,
parallel lines as margins to the cardstock ribbon
and any decorative stitches you have

or use kid's cheap graph paper... draw out or stamp your image and then dot it out on your cs with a thumbtack...
use a mousepad under it all so you don't end up with 'peragamo-table syndrome'

In addition to the 8-1/2 x 11 plastic needlepoint plastic, you can get circles, stars, and other shapes. These shapes can be used with not only the outside row of holes, but any of the inside, smaller-sized ones as well. I kept getting confused with which row of holes I was using, so I took my sharpie markers and colored every other row with a different color. That really helped a lot. The plastic is still transparent, so I can outline a stamped image with punching, too. I use a piece of styrofoam as my base, then layer the CS on top, plastic canvas piece, then punch the holes with a pushpin. Works great! --Audrey

Default Not Mine!

I found these on the net, I would ask first, but the idea is simple enough.
Make your own, print it, LAMINATE IT to make it last and away you go.

as I say, I would ask...

Does anyone know what size the oval is on the SU punches plus brass template, for piercing?

Here's a template that I got a week ago:

http://www.paperwishes.com/products/4001495

and here's the tool I got. I needed a thinner one:

and I got some from Ellen Huston. Both had good ship times.
Have fun

I've used the plastic canvas, like many of you. The other day, I had the leftover piece from the *So Swirly* Big Shot die and used it as a guide. Worked like a charm.

I replied to another post about lining up brads and eyelets. Same for here. I use plastic canvas shapes. They make all kinds and shapes. Hearts, circles, octagons, squares etc. Either mark with a pencil and go back and punch, or use the needle in a tool kit for brads and eyelets to put the holes directly in your paper or cardstock. Works every time
