Default ? for all you Demos, what is involved in an open house?

So, like my title says. What is all involed in having an open house? It would be at my home, and... help me fill in the blank with some ideas please. My upline is at convention, and I want to get started on planning this thing.I just don't know what this thing I am planning is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

well, I just had my Open House for TAC, which you can use many of the same ideas if you wish.

I had a make & take, several raffle gifts-giving extra tickets for booking a show-extra for bringing a friend-RSVPing-etc.

I also had tools and accessories out on a table for them to see and touch-or for me to demo or them to use if they wanted to.

I bought black foam boards for cards on display-this was a definite WOW factor!! I had other cards in baggie books as samples for them to browse through too. I love to alter things too, so I had my best items out on display to show, such as a lunch tin, a paint can, a clip board, etc.

I had several catalogs on another table with order forms and pens.

I had some yummy refreshments. Nothing fancy, just the usual cracker & dips, soda, coffee, chocolate, and a coffee cake kinda stuff.

Hope this helps you out a bit!! Good Luck!!

Hey Amy...since you're a demo, you should sign up for the "Demo-only" forums on this site. There are a TON of ideas for you there.

Scrappinchick gave you some great ideas, too. I like to have around 3 make-n-takes. Depending on the crowd, you can either have them at different stations, with the instructions at the table or walk them through each one.

Thanks so much, I don't have my number just yet. They said I should call back tomorrow and everything would be ready. So I'll sign up for the demo only forum then. Thanks I had totally forgotten that was one of the forums here.
How long did it take you to prepare for an Open house?I would like to do one in just a few weeks. And where did you get the black foam boards? I think I have enough cards to do a few of the black boards, and maybe some set samplers. What kind of make and takes do you guys usually do, are there different techniques you use? Or do you do types of cards like spinners, and shakers, or is it just something from everything? Man I have so much running around in my head now, I don't know what to do. hmm thanks for everything, this is really going to help! Any ther suggestions are gladly welcomed as well!

I got the foam boards at Hobby Lobby. But I think Staples or any office supply store would have them also.

Thanks,
I'll have to check out Staples, we don't have a Hobby Lobby here in Canada. Michaels that's it.
