Default Rant Cell Phone Apps - Michaels & Joann Fabrics

I must admit I'm late entering the fancy cell phone market. Our old cell didn't even have a text feature. I decided to try out my daughter's Blackberry Curve when she upgraded to an iPhone. I was excited to try out the coupon apps from Joann Fabrics and Michaels to save on paper.

Silly me. I didn't realize the Blackberry wasn't one of main three types of cell phones. I thought it was a form of Android but the Android apps do not work on the Blackberry. Don't ask me how many hours I spent trying to get it to work before I figured this out. Both these companies offer an Android app and an iPhone app but nothing for Blackberry.

No wonder RIM's share prices are going down the toilet ... they're not keeping up with Apple and the droid people.

My only other option would be texting coupon codes but I don't have a texting plane on the phone, only access to wifi and no data package in order to keep my costs down.

That's my rant for the night.

It isn't just Blackberry though. I have an android, and have tried at least a half dozen times over the past couple of months to bring up the coupons/coupon apps for Ms on my phone while shopping. It has failed every.single.time. More than once, I've had the cashier pull a paper coupon out of their drawer & scan it, telling me that I'm not the first person to complain about not being able to bring the coupon up on my phone.

I have the Joann's app, and it has worked just fine for me. I even bring it up in line at Michaels. I didn't know Michaels had an app, so I will try to load that. I have signed up for their email coupons multiple times but never received one email from them.

I have the iPhone apps for both of those stores and they work great. I used to have an Android phone but didn't know about the apps back then so I can't say if they worked good or not. I hate to say it, but I've found that the apps for the iPhone tend to have less problems. Not suggesting the whole world needs to embrace the iPhone, but I definitely prefer mine over the Android platform.

I have a Windows phone, so no J/M apps for me. It is a smartphone though, so I just go to Retailmenot.com to pull up coupons for whatever store I'm in or pull up email coupons (although Michaels seems to rarely send anything out and I also had months before I received the first email from them).
