Default shipping cost?~ US - Australia

I have someone interested in a trade to Australia. I know I can check with the PO tomorrow but does anyone have info on cost vs. US. I just had a terrible experience shipping to Canada and am hesitant to ship outside the US. Thanks!

I have received lots of parcels from the US and they are usually in priority mailing envelopes through the usps which, for say a stamp set size, I think are about 12$.
I hope someone can come and give you more info.

I have mailed many stamp sets worldwide when I sold alot of my stamps on ebay. All my experiences were good. First Class International Parcel is cheapest. If you know the weight of your package or stamp set, then you can check on usps.com what the cost will be. If you don't know the weight, let me know the item you want shipped and if I have it or something similar, I can weigh it and let you know.

When I did trades, I would usually let the other person know the cost and make the trade fair for both parties(postage and item cost with the exchange rate taken into consideration).

Lori, I take my packages to Australia to the post office -- the flat rate priority envelope, I believe, is around $12. But I've sent packages of all sizes -- with the understanding that the recipient will pay the exact cost. This is someone I know well though. Australians seem to be aware that the cost of shipping is high from the U.S.

You also will fill out a customs form at the p.o. (there are two, and I'm not sure what the determination is for which one -- size, weight, value?).

You can get a rough idea at usps.com, or even print your postage yourself from there, but I always feel more comfortable taking overseas packages to the p.o.

HTH, friend!

If it is only one or two stamps the cost could be under 5.00 US dollars, but it will depend on the weight. And like someone else said if you would prefer priority shipping you can use flat rate boxes or envelopes. But if it is under 4 pounds 1st class is usually cheaper

Make sure you let them know that it will take awhile for the package to arrive and you can not use delivery confirmation on it. If you go to: USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service)
you can read more about the international shipping. You will need to fill out a customs form. You also get a discount if you do it on-line but you will need to know the weight of your package. Good luck!
