Default I didn't know about an SU "dormant list"!

I probably just missed the chatter about this a few weeks ago, but I didn't find anything with a search...

There's a "dormant list" on the SU! site: several sets and wheels that are not being discontinued, but will not be pictured in the new catty. Their availibilty is guaranteed for the next 6 months, but no promises after that.

Here's the link!

i am wondering how well this will work! not just for me either
i am an 'out of site, out of mind' kind of person
(i've had a bad head injury that affects my short term memory)
so if it isn't in the catalog, i won't 'remember' that it is still available.

Thanks for sharing that with us! I was not aware of it either. I've printed the list and I'll put it in the front of my catalog.

Me to, and I haven't had an injury! I think I'll print a copy to tuck into my catalog.

In case anyone is wondering why there's a "dormant" list, I can try to explain. When SU moves to the 6-month catalog, it will focus on 2 seasons at a time. This first time is "fall-winter" and all the spring-summer sets won't be in it BUT they'll be available for sale from a demo and will be able to be viewed online. SU will guarantee they'll be available thru December but not beyond that (still uncertain). I think SU just wants to de-clutter a seasonal catalog from all those sets not-in-season yet keep some for gals who still need a little something in that area. Here's the dormant list:

Item # Set Name Catalog Page #
106638 Bodacious Bouquet 114
105038 Never Ending Joy 28
104243 Summer by the Sea 129
105280 Word by Word 168
100360 Acorns wheel 238
104070 Bloomin wheel 238
107466 Bodacious jumbo wheel 239
105750 Bouquet jumbo wheel 239
107481 Butterflies & Blossoms wheel 238
104279 Leaf Prints wheel 238
107480 True Heart wheel 238
105033 Wings & Things wheel 238

I hope that helps make sense of this new list!

Cheers!

Cool, I heard about this but had not seen the list. Will print and keep in my copy of the new catalog.

Thanks.

The purpose behind the dormant list is that the new bi-annual catalog will be more seasonal in nature. The dormant list will be stamp sets that may not fit into the seasons covered. ie In the Fall/Winter Collection coming out July 1, all of the winter holidays will be there along with fall and winter sets, all occasion set, and likely a small section os predominately spring/summer type sets. The spring/summer sets, like Summer by the Sea will be on the dorment list and will appear in the Spring/Summer Collection. The Spring/Summer Collection will probably not have many Christmas and winter sets, but those sets will be on the new dormant list.

One trick I use is if I want to see what a set's images tend to look like and I do not have time to search catalogs, I just come on here or to patstamps.com and check the gallery for that set by name. It seems to speed things up for me.

CTMH does the same thing. It is a wee bit annoying not having everything in the catty, but I guess if it saves trees...

My only question is, why come out with mini catalogs? I thought that was where the Christmas and more seasonal items came in? I will be printing out the list as well. Can't wait to see what the new catalog will have.

Actually, with the new 2x a year catalog, the number of mini catalogs will decrease to 2 a year (I think) rather than the current 4 per year.

Thanks for posting this. A friend of mine wants the Summer by the Sea, but has not ordered it yet. I'll let her know that it's still available, though not pictured in new catty.
