Organizing tip

Okay, I have a lot of sets. A LOT! I need some help in which I can put them in different categories.

Holidays, alphabets, backgrounds, words. But I still have sets that fit into many categories. The ones from the sell-a-brations and cute little ones that I had to have, but rarely use b/c I can never find them. I have shelves to store them.

Any suggestions?

please don't laugh at me  but i saw this in a magazine a long time ago... make a map key!!!!

like draw your shelves on a piece of paper and then label which sets are where... or even just do it by labeling on a spread sheet in each column a shelf and list that way...

you then can post this above your work desk and this way you can always see where each set is on each shelf without having to leave your chair...

you could also post an index card onto each shelf with the sets names on that shelf for a quick look see...

Now you promised not to laugh at me :)

no we didn't. You told us the plan before we had a chance to reply as to whether or not we would promise not to laugh.

Besides, why would anyone laugh? I think it's a great idea and I may just use it for my cabinet of retired stamps because most of the shelves are 2 sets deep.

You know what greeneyes? I think I read about Julia Child organizing her kitchen like that. It's a great idea.

and that would be the end of the "I didn't put that away cause I don't know where it goes" excuse!

Great idea. Think I'll polyurethane (or is it polyvarathane?) the map to the wall in each corresponding room so it can't get LOST!!!

I downloaded a Word file from another demo's website. It's like my upline's upline's upline, or something like that (I'm a new demo). She had labels of ALL the sets in the new catalog and you can print them from your Avery 5160 labels. For example:

Flaky Friends
Page 42 Set of 8
$24.95 #101850

So I printed out ALL the sheets, I think it's 14 pages of labels, and I put the labels on the side of my plastic SU boxes. It looks VERY nice and if you're a demo, then when you're showing someone a set, they can see how much it is, the page number, how many in the set, etc.

They don't have the labels for retired sets, but I figure I can type those up easily enough, using the template.

I'm assuming this thing would be free to share... It's on the StampaHOWlics website - the demo part.

Hope this helps someone!

Rita - are you drinking some beer off the top of the can so you can make Beer Bu** Chicken? We don't use that word in our house - so our chickens would have tushies.
