I would love to get tiny tag in the clear mount, but if they are not sticking I can't imagine what a nightmare that teeny, tiny set would be if they were falling off.

I have the set in unmounted and haven't had any trouble with it not sticking, even using with versamark, which is kind of sticky. But I didn't put my labels on either. You do have to be a bit gentle with the smaller ones when cleaning them, but I just stamp off as much ink as possible and then use a baby wipe.

Funny, isn't it, that no matter how many sentiments I have it seems I don't have just the right one.

Yup, I understand that is why I am always looking for the older sets. If there are nice images or not too funky looking script, I will get them.

I find it is interesting how many of the new sets look so incredibly similar to older sets....perhaps just a bit more modern. Anyone else feel that way?

Chuckle...I have two of my stamp drawers full of sentiment stamps - I barely use lots of them but cant get rid of them because 'they might come in useful one day' and I keep adding to them because I never have the right one

I was noticing that some of the stamps look similiar to some of the ones from many years ago or non-SU ones look like SU ones! But even if they have the same font-look, they are usually a different size and that can make all of the difference on a card!

And how many Happy Birthdays, Merry Christmas's,etc do you really need? But there are times when you want one that looks more elegant and times when you want one that is kind of fun looking. And we wonder why this is such an expensive hobby...

I agree. I guess there are only so many ways to draw flowers or babies or what have you. The longer you're in the hobby, the more stuff starts to look the same.

And yes, I always feel I need more sentiments. Is it heresy to say I use computer generated sentiments when possible?

Not heresy, but you may be beaten about the head and shoulders with a baby wipe used for cleaning stamps.....

I use computer generated sentiments when I don't have the one I want. I save some of the great sayings you see in catalogs for t-shirts, gift plaques, whatnots and I print them on my computer.

Right now my fav is "I'll have a vodka, valium, prozac latte please" - I can't wait to put that into a card with someting about having one of those days....

I don't do computer generated anything because I have a very old printer and no amount of persuading my husband to get another one has worked

So, I will keep buying the sentiments.....even if it means that I have to look to other companies for just the right ones. Don't beat me or hate me....I am a lover of SU to my core but, a girls got to do what a girls got to do!!!

Heh, Heh! Good one! I do like catalogs for sentiments and sometimes design inspiration.

As much as I love SU too, they can't carry everything...I don't think any one company or store can. I also don't do the computer generated, just haven't taken the time although I have been thinking about it.

Has anyone tried the card-printing option from SU's "My Digital Studio" computer scrapping programme?

I got MDS back in December, but haven't used it that much yet, I'm trying to get my actual photos into albums so I'm doing more hands on right now.

You are welcome! I read it somewhere and I'm so glad I did and could pass it along. It's really helped keep me organized and not misplace any cute little un-mounted images or sentiments.

Btw, I used the clear-mount stamps with a whole class of stampers this weekend- some experienced, some brand new. I explained just to give it a little *oomph* when clinging the rubber to the clear blocks and everyone got it & did just fine with it. They were so excited to see this cool (relatively) new option and loved how it was still the real rubber vs all plastic.

So far I haven't had any trouble with my club using the clear mounted stamps. They really seem to like them too.

Smile Lace and glitter

Thanks for your compliments on my card. I guess I don’t consider myself an inexperienced stamper – maybe an intermediate one. I still have a lot to learn, I learn something new here almost every day.

To answer your questions about the technique:
I haven’t had a problem getting the lace off the sticky strip. I got my lace at JoAnn’s Fabrics, you need such a small piece that it is not expensive. Not all lace works, though, so you should try a piece out before you take it to a class. I think it works better if the lace has some big holes so that the glitter can get through easily and then the design has to have very small holes so that the glitter doesn’t get through. Lace without a big difference in hole size can leave the colors looking “muddied”. Also your two glitter colors have to be very different.
It is a messy technique, so I wouldn’t do it at hostess club unless the hostess had a craft area that it wouldn’t hurt to have glitter spilled in. If you do want to do it here is how with a bit more detail.
1. Spread the lace out on the sticky sheet, make sure the lace is laid down well and stuck in all the areas, go over the whole area with your hand, otherwise the glitter will get up under the lace.
2. Sprinkle glitter all over the sticky sheet and then rub it in with your finger to make sure it adheres well to all exposed areas.
3. Dump off the glitter and then shake the sticky sheet well and tap or thump on the back of the sticky sheet to make sure you get ALL the loose glitter off. (This is the messy step – it is really hard to thump it all off without making a mess.)
4. Hold one corner of the sticky sheet and peel off the lace.
5. Sprinkle the contrasting glitter color onto the sheet and it will adhere to the newly exposed areas where the lace was. Rub it in with your finger to make sure that all areas are covered. Dump the extra glitter off and then tap the paper to get rid of any remaining free glitter.

If you want to see another example of a card made with this technique here is one my mom made.

FLLCDEC Pretty in Pink by m&m'sgrandma at Splitcoaststampers

I hope this helps.
Trina,

This is an interesting, beautiful technique. Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi, there.

I only have the circle punches so far (which are awesome), but I was thinking it might be time to get the circle scissor plus, too.

Hopefully someone will have some ideas for us

Best of luck to you!

Can anyone tell me whether or not the retired DSP Bali Breeze had a coordinating stamp set? If so, what is it? If not, what set(s) might go with it? Thanks!

Don't feel bad...it took my DH 4 years of me putting a movie on my Christmas list. At that time we had the VCR and the DVD, well, he bought it on VHS, and the next year, bought it for me on DVD.

So, I will keep buying the sentiments.....even if it means that I have to look to other companies for just the right ones. Don't beat me or hate me....I am a lover of SU to my core but, a girls got to do what a girls got to do!!!
so add up the cost of those stamps and compare to cost of printer...might be worth it to have new printer...sometimes men need hard facts...see in b&w

So who else is loving the new Sweet Pea paper stack? I am really enjoying the different varieties of paper and colors in there! It really allows you to do so many different things with your projects. You can go totally girly with the pink paper and butterflies or more fun and funky with the birds and flowers and stripes and houndstooth. I love it!

Another favorite thing from the mini is the new butterfly embosslit! WOW...I love it! The butterflies are tiny but the details on it are so cute and neat. I am making them in tons of colors and layering them. Lots of fun!

what else is everyone loving from the new mini?

Hey, Kelly.

I agree, that paper is gorgeous!!! I love the Well Scripted stamp set, too. Usually I prefer fairly simple sentiments/fonts, but this set is so incredibly versatile and makes my cards look so fancy for special occasions- I love it!!

Oh Kristi....I love that one too! I aslo really like the Whimsical Words from the SaleABration too! Its a "meet in the middle" kind of sentiment set...it has the plain type with the whimsical type script in it too...so its a win/win!

I haven't had a chance to play with the sweet pea paper, but love the Sending Love paper....glittery and oh so pretty. I can't seem to get enough of the Vintage Vogue set and the scallop punches. Love the new design with the punches.
