Trying to have small borders on my layers and then getting the top one on crooked! Then trying to take the layers apart which rarely works!

Yep, me too! I hate it! I throw so many things out or junk them for scraps because of my inky fingerprints! Sooo incredibly annoying! Anyone have any types on how to avoid this from happening in the first place?

I always have ink on my fingers, and can not ever seem to get thigs straight and I usually notice it after i post pictures in my gallary.....but the mistake i always seem to make and i am trying hard not to is to always make my cards/project at the last minute when I have not creativity at all! My new years resolution is to not hoard paper/embellishments and to always make at least 2 cards when i have to make one.

I usually leave the lid off the ink pad while I'm working then some part of the card ends up in it. Why haven't I learnt?

I'm always punching out shapes then standing on my head trying to stamp the image on the shape perfectly in the centre. I need to tattoo on my arm, "stamp first, punch second!"

Whenever I am putting brads or ribbon on a card, I always seem to do it last - after I have already assembled all the layers. Then I need to pull the layers off so that I can tuck the ribbon under or put the brad through without it going all the way to the base of the card. If I could only remember to do it before I assemble the card, I would have a much "flatter" card...

I don't put all of the stuff away that I used when I finish working on a project so invariably I slowly get my organization disorganized grrrrrrrrrr.........and then I have to get it organized again which both takes away from play time and is VERY frustrating........I don't get myself sometimes LOL

I can't seem to get this lesson in my head either. I close them as I go, somehow one gets left open and either the card or another sheet of paper ends up with smears. My other mistake (actually bad habit) is not putting stuff away after I'm done with a project then I can't find things again when I need them.

Guilty of all charges . . . I think my most frustrating boo-boo is smearing my Stickles. Even if I do put 'em on last, I still find a way to stick a finger or another piece of paper on them and smear them. Aaaaargh!

I think I have made all these mistakes at one point, but I think the worst mistake is waiting until the last minute to make a card and then I rush. I really need to learn to keep a supply of basic cards on hand. Or even have basic cards without sentiments on hand and then all I need to do is add the sentiment.

...not putting the cap on the end of the markers - I just uncap the marker and put the cap on the table - then have to spend time looking for the cap, afraid the marker will dry out before I find it!

What mommyspencer said. I'm always in a hurry to get on project done so I can more on to the next that I stick everything together b4 adding the brads, eyelets, ribbon, etc. I REALLY need to slow down, not just in cardmaking, but in life in general.

Hee Hee Hee This thread is too funny! I am reading each post, and nodding my head at every single one! So, I think that all of these mistakes are ones worth mentioning. Now...my HUSBAND would say that my biggest stamping mistake is going by the clearance aisle at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, LSS, etc, etc, etc, etc! Hee Hee Hee

LOL! I went so far as to name my blog "The Crooked Stamper". My customers congratulate me when I get something straight. My famous repeated boo-boo is making the 'perfect' card, then stamping the sentiment crooked.

Oh, this thread makes me feel so much better, because I do all these. But I think my biggest pet peeve is loosing something I was just working on. I just had it in my hand, set it down and then poof, it's gone! Not on the floor, not on the desk, not on the card, I swear the Paper Fairy comes in takes my stuff. I give up looking for it, and make a another. then some time later, the Paper Fairy brings it back, only she glues it to my sleeve or my leg. I think she really has a sick sense of humor....

I always cut the CS wrong---when I want the card to open a certain way and then I cut it the wrong way~~~and I have to cut a slit in the fold to make the ribbon go through instead of just wrapping!

Biggest headache, forget to use embossing buddy before I emboss, those little dots of embossing powder are not suppose to be on my cards. The shiny dots are where I scraped them off....LOL
No inky fingers here..thats what they make denim jeans for....LOL

Over and over, I glue my layers together before I remember that I wanted to add some ribbon around it. Why can't I remember that? How many times do I have to do it wrong?

I am usually good about the ribbon but I do the same thing with eyelets and brads.............always decide to use them after the card is together.

I am also guilty of adding my layers, only to decide that I want to add ribbon or brads. I have ruined many cards trying to pull off the layers so I can add more bling.

I can easily indentify my "stamping jeans" - they're the ones with all the ink marks on the fronts.

I kept having my tools roll away, so I got a piece of think foam like oasis from the scrapstore, that's a junk place in the Uk that has recycled materials for sale.
I got a really big bit about 12" by 6" by 6", now i stick all my pooky tools pens and thinks into the foam. Even my flowers with brads anything that I will need, I even made some holes for pens and poked a tube for them.
I also added a hole and made it deep so I cold put a plastic container in with sponge at the bottom I keep this damp and my glue lies on the sponge and is ready to use out of the tube with the red top.
It's great as now all I do is look for it, and there is my item.
I also put my ink on top so it's not in reach of my hands unless i take it off.

I never put my stuff away after I work on something. Take last night; I helped my daughter make an album for a Bridal Shower and of course she needed by 1 pm today. My room becomes a mess in a short time. I spend so much time wondering where I put something I just had in my hand. If, when I complete using say the stamp, I would clean it and put it away, then I could find it 15 minutes later when I need it again for another page. I bet I lost the same spool of ribbon 12 times last night along with the initial "M" stamp. Those were the two main "themes" in the book.
You would think I would learn after all this time....gotta go clean a crapft room.

I'm another one who leaves the lid of the ink pad, and then gets ink on something I want to use. I am trying to train myself out of it...
Something I am not going to do again is put my H2Os away before they are dry - you should see my hands today after opening two jars and trying to scrape almost dry paint from the lids back into the base. Normally I remember to leave them the right way up till they are well dry, as I store them upside down so I can see the colours.
And, like stamphappy1650, I lose things that were on my desk 5 minutes ago...but it's a small desk with a lot of stuff, so it's hardly surprising.

I am always cutting my ribbon length too short in an effort to conserve my precious ribbon. Nine times out of ten, I end up using more ribbon in the end than I would have if I would have been more generous with my initial measurement...go figure! When will I learn?!?

I do this too, actually, I've done all of these aside from the inky fingers prints, odd because my name is missinkyfingers. I have however gotten ink my card via an open pad that it landed in. My stamp table is a mess right now of all the items I've used to make cards in the last month I'd say. My thought process in this is that I'll be using them so don't put them away because if it is out right here in front of me it's handy and easy to find. Never seems to be the case does it?
These are all so funny, I cracked up at the fairy having a sick sense of humor!!
I've a stamping t-shirt, and you can tell. I'll bet those stamping jeans are cool looking though.
I actually just saw the flower soft tutorial and they used a piece of foam for the flower to dry in and I actually thought, I need to do that for my piercer and other tools I use that roll away. Looks like sharron246 was ahead of the game on that one.

Ditto to all of the above and for some reason I cannot (even with the SU paper piercing template) get brads or eyelets evenly spaced/straight. Grrr! Always the last thing I add to the card, too.
ps-for all you ladies taking layers off of your cards, try dental floss and "floss" it off. I read that tip in the "favorite tip" thread and it works awesome! No more curled paper!
