My cousin is getting married next summer and we are making her invitations - she would like to be able to use a monogram on the outside of the invitation (just a single letter) - anyone have some suggestions on where we might find single letter stamps like this? Obviously it needs to be a bit fancier than a block letter.
I use Just Rite Stamps for monograms - I purchase the JR sets from stampingscrapping.com - (20% off), www.carolinacraftingconcepts.com (20% off - with fonts on sale right now for $9.99) and of course direct from Just Rite..............

Just about anywhere. I actually bought my monogram letter from Impress Rubber Stamps, and was able to only buy the letter I wanted, in the font I wanted. It took me forever to find the look I wanted and I was thrilled that I could buy it in a single stamp.
I was apparently ahead of the trend for Copperplate, as shortly after I got married, it started appearing everywhere! I looked for a place that I could buy just the letter I wanted in the size I wanted. Depending on the size you want, it may be cheaper to either buy the single stamp or to have one made in the font she wants than to buy a complete alphabet set.
I actually used my letter stamp to stamp into olive hot wax (the kind that you can use in a low heat glue gun) and then ran gold gilder's paste on top to highlight the letter. The wax held down the gold organza ribbon to the crimson invitation outside. The tied ribbon (in a bow) kept the pocket fold invitation closed. It made a very elegant invitation.
I used the same concept with the programs. I loved a friend's programs that were a different shape and size than usual and were folded and tied with ribbon. So, I made mine 4"x12" and folded them like an old fashioned letter. I held them closed with the same gold organza ribbon tied in a bow and the same hot wax trick. BTW, through this process I found that my husband, who'd never done a wax seal before, was excellent at wax seals!
I wanted to tell you how I used my small monogram stamp to have a big effect in case you're looking for ideas!

Or.....you could do it on your computer. Find a font you like, format your letter and print it out, punch out each initial and use it on the invitations. I do a lot of monogrammed notecard sets and I like the variety offered by Word fonts.
Although these aren't wedding invitations, here's a couple showing computer generated monograms:
Michael's had some individual ones, if you are looking for just one and not a set... this would be perfect.

You might want to check out the Initially Yours stamp sets. You also can buy an individual letter from any of the Technique Tuesday alphabet stamp sets. I think each letter is only $4 (plus shipping). If you want more info about how to order an individual letter, just send some email to CustomerCare at TechniqueTuesday dot com.
Another great resource for the single monogram stamps is the Michaels dollar bin. I have two different sets of stamps that I have gotten there. The latest set is elegant cap letter stamps that are black on the label..I just completed a set of 12 monogrammed thank you cards for our great nephews wedding. They turned out pretty nice.
Kitkat...more very beautiful cards..thanks for sharing!
blessings.,
Just found these Studio G/Hampton Arts $1 monogram stamps at Michael's. Some were in the carousel rack where the $1 stamps always are. But most of them were where the inexpensive novelty items are found, usually in one of the main aisles. Probably there because there are many items (notebooks, bookmarks, notecards, etc) that use this same design. They coordinate with one of my favorite alphabet sets, Garden Delight from smARTworks.

I love these stamps, too, and managed to buy every letter they had. Which leads me to my grouch for the day - why don't they make all the letters? (Ok, I know, it's so they don't end up with a mess of Q's and Z's, but when I was thinking I could make lovely monogram sets for friends and relatives and realized I can't make them for Vickie? Drat!)
By the way, I've done test stamps of these and they stamp a great image.
I never thought about the possiblity of them not making certain letters, but have seen W. I've been to 3 Michael's looking for a K. Thought it must be a very popular letter, but maybe there never were any. Will keep my eye out for a V.

I do have a K - I'll check the next time I'm there to see if there's another one and try to snag it for you. At ours, I have to check both spots - some of them are in the bin with the other miscellaneous $1 stamps and most of them are in the bin by the other summer fruit $1 items.
