Has anyone tried the "kiss" technique on pg 5 of t
I got the new Stampin' Success today - a great issue I thought!!
I have the Canvas background stamp and the Love Without End set. I tried the kissing technique that they showed on the "Love is a circle" card on pg. 5 and could not get it to work.
It would take some of the ink off the canvas, but not enough to make a good clear flower shape. I tried wetting it a little first, and tried kissing it twice before printing the background, but it just did not look as good as the one they did. Anyone have any luck with it?
The resulting flower that I stamped (like in the "happiness page") looked great, but just not the other part. Any ideas?
maybe try inking your stamp with versamark before kissing it to the canvas - maybe the stickiness from the VM will help - I have this on my to do list for the weekend
cathcraft, The love is a circle card uses the 'debossing' technique, not the kissing technique. It looks like the used the template to emboss it, then lightly stamped the canvas onto the BACK of the embossed image. Check the pix in the upper right corner with the butterfly.
chrishpam, I'm sorry to tell you this, but your french script won't work because the words will be reversed! :(
we'd love to see what you all come up with if you try the kissing technique. Please consider posting a link to your card in the TLC01 thread (and put TLC01 in the KEYWORDS section)
the magazine paragraph says it was done with the kiss technique and you could emboss it to make it pop more afterwards. I did try the deboss with the butterflies and that worked great! I used the only classy brass template I had which was fresh flowers and that worked great. Anyway, thanks for the answers and the link everybody and I will try to work on it tomorrow! Thanks!
lisa s that versamark idea was neat too - I will give that a try as well! Everybody is so helpful on here! Thanks! In the little paragraph it said to "ink the background stamp, pull the color off the stamp with the flower stamp, then stamp the background stamp on the cardstock". When I tried it there was still a lot of canvas printed inside the flower part and it did not look as white as theirs. Anyway, I will try more tomorrow thanks everybody!
cathcraft...you're right, I was wrong  I was just looking at the pictures and the recipes and mixed up what went with what! Sorry for any confusion, friends!
Lisa S! I tried the versamark and the other ways with the Shapes and Shadows and the versamark worked the best for me! it looks GREAT!
Thanks so much!
Glad it worked for you - I've done the other kissing technique, where you ink with 2 diff colors so that your image would take the texture of the background stamp - but when I read the article I knew it was different, that's why I thought to use versamark - as that would be sticky and pull the color off that background, as it is the background stamp that you are stamping and not the image stamp on your CS - did you post your creation yet? would love to see it
I have been trying to get it right too... I was having a heck of a time, I tried the versamark, letting the ink sortof dry before kissing.. I was about to pull my hair out, just then my dh asked why I didn't just use bleach?
my first reaction was shock, he must have realing been listining, I haven't played with bleach for a long time.
anywho I tried it and it worked pretty good. I just have to be careful not to get too much bleach on my stamp next time..
here is a link to my first try with the bleach on this card
