Can you give me an idea of how it looks for the mods tomorrow morning? We had alot of helpers to keep this thread bumped up all week, so I'm hoping it made a difference.
Hey Mary, it's about 100 less than last week, so I think y'all were successful, but there are still quite a few in there.
As I have said before though, we ask that people don't upload, but it is not a requirement that they don't do it. We do realize that some poeple may not have other alternatives.

Thanks for checking, Karen! 100 less is good, but I was honestly hoping for better than that, KWIM?
I do think the site might've picked up a few new Fan Club members tho, so that's another plus.
I guess we'll just keep pluggin' along & bumpin' it up.........hopefully we can still get the Monday morning numbers down a little bit more.;)

I totally understand the no uploads on Sunday rule. But maybe you all could have been a little bit nicer to greengem32. I know that she did not do it to upset anyone. I think that you are all being harsh, and hurtful. The site should not be about hurting other peoples feelings. All the yelling, (that is what it means when you use CAPS!) can really hurt a person's feelings. I am not speaking for greengem, just that as another person that goes on this site, that sometimes the people here can be hurtful. People that are not part of the"group" can be made to feel bad.
Not trying to rock the boat, just make sure that you all make room for everyone.

I understand what you're saying. I also understand that someone could forget, and upload on Sunday. There is no rule that says you can't. That's why we tried keeping this thread bumped all week instead of just on Saturday and Sunday as we've been doing in the past. I for one wasn't directing any yelling at her, or being harsh or hurtful, and I don't really think anyone else was either. We are just trying to get the word out to as many people as possible that it would really be nice if people refrained from uploading on Sundays, so the gallery mods can have the day off. There is plenty of time between Monday and Saturday to upload. It's just our hope that people use those days instead, so the gallery mods are not totally swamped with hundreds of uploads to approve on Monday morning.
When any of us use CAPS in our posts here I think we're just trying to get more people to pay attention to this thread.
Okay, stupid question (and I haven't read through this whole thread so it may have been answered already). Can't the "mods" just take Sunday off (ie just don't turn on your computer-don't approve cards etc?????) If there's a ton waiting on Monday morning, take your time, drink your coffee and slowly approve them? Keep in mind I know NOTHING about running a website such as this and I am thankful others are willing to donate their time to it. I try to remember not to upload on Sundays as I'm sure a lot of you do. All I know, I was happy in the "old" days when you'd upload a card and it would be several hours before it actually appeared on the site-now it's so fast i'm amazed-either way-I'm just happy SCS is here!

I assure you that no one was directing anything at greengem!! In fact if you read back through the thread you'll see that anytime someone has said that they uploaded on a Sunday we have generally told them *teasingly* that they get 40 lashes with a wet noodle and no harm done. I believe greengem's post was simply overlooked and not acknowledged....but I can say with certainty that no one yelled at her. I have been working with these ladies on keeping this thread bumped up for a very long time and they are the nicest gals you would ever want to meet - they would never post anything to hurt anyone's feelings!!!

The standard punishment for uploading on a Sunday is 40 lashes with a wet noodle and send me everything you have stamped for a week!!:p ;) Seriously - no big deal - everyone makes mistakes. It's not a stupid question. ;) The gallery mods do take Sundays off. I don't have all the actual numbers, but just a little info for you...when I became a member here just a little over 2 years ago, I got member #24699. If I'm not mistaken, there are now over 100,000 members. What I do know is that when people upload their stuff on Sundays when there aren't any mods approving uploads, all those uploads pile up for them to approve on Monday morning. I'm guessing that turns out to be hundreds and hundreds...maybe even in the thousand range.:shock: Mind you, that is just my guess. We are just trying to make their jobs a little easier, KWIM?

If people upload at will on Sundays and no approvals are done, then the morning gallery Mod (they work in shifts) is literally slammed with hundreds of uploads. Believe me - there would be no sitting back and taking time to approve at that point as there would also be the current Monday morning uploads coming in as well. It defeats the purpose of taking Sunday off if Monday morning is going to be totally overwhelming. I hope that makes sense.
Also keep in mind - people can always join the Fan Club and help support all the expenses involved in running this wonderful site. In my book it is worth way more to me than a magazine subscription or even a stamp set.
