Default What all can you do with gum arabic?

I've never bought gum arabic, but I'm thinking about it and wonder what all I can do with it. I was just reading that I can make my own PE shimmer spray, but what else?

Thanks for your help.

Default Gum Arabic

Gum Arabic is called a "binder". When you mix it with Pear Ex it causes the Pearl Ex to stick to whatever your are putting it on. For example, if you mix the powder gum arabic with your pearl ex and later take some and mix it with water, it works like watercolors and you don't have to spray it with a fixative. I mix powder gum arabic with my Pearl Ex when I buy it. That way I never have to stop and do it when I use it.

When you use the liquid gum arabic, generally you are already working with some type of liquid color. Can anyone else explain this a little better?

I am a little bit of a novice when it comes to different mediums. I have just started to use them for different effects.

Mixing it with the spray makes the spray permanent.

HTH,
Shirley
