New SU Reinkers on older Pads?

I have just about all the SU classic pad colors and can't afford to replace them all. Some of my favorites have dried out a little and I was going to order some reinkers. Then I heard that you can't use the new reinkers on the old pads. Is this true? Why?

I think it is only a few colors, tempting turquoise was one, they had to reformulate to get it right with the new pads. I will look and see if I can find which other colors were reformulated.

straight from the faqs page on su:
Q: Do old Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills work with the new firm foam pads?
A: Yes, with the exception of Basic Black, Basic Gray, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, and Tempting Turquoise, which have been reformulated to work with the new foam pad material. We do not recommend using old ink refills in these colors with the new firm foam pads.

You can use the new reinkers on your old pads. Five colors were reformulated and it is those new pads that you cannot use the old reinkers on.

Thanks Su and Serena for your replies. I was interested in whether I could use NEW reinkers in OLD pads. It sounds like I can except for the five colors Basic Black, Basic Gray, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, and Tempting Turquoise, which have been reformulated.
Thanks again.

If you have some favs, I would consider getting new pads instead of reinkers for those. In the long run I think you would be happier with the results. I have not purchased any as yet but what I read about them that is the direction I would go if this was where I was with them. JMO

You *CAN* use new reinkers in old pads. All of them!

(It's the old reinkers that you can't use for the limited number of pads with new formulations.)
