Presentation for the Corner Bookmark (today's tutorial)
I'm so glad for the reminder about the corner bookmark in today's tutorial. And what a beautiful one it is!!
My question is how would you "wrap" this present? I need a little gift for my kids' summer mother's day out teachers and this is perfect. But how to gift it so that it's obvious it's a corner bookmark? I hate giving someone something and having to explain what it is. I have 6 people to make one for and I have no idea what any of them read so putting it in a book that they will actually read is out of the question. And I guess I could doll up an inexpensive journal but I'd like to not spend too much extra $$$!
I know that many of you will have some cute ideas!!

How about looking at the dollar store in their book section and see if you can find a book of quotes of inspiration or something like that, or journals. Even just randon books that look somewhat interesting. That way it is not too expensive if they don't like the book.
My daughter had to have a paperback book for an art project at school this year at first I was upset because I didn't want to spend the money on a book to be altered. Then I thought about the dollar store and actually the book we bought looked like it might be very interesting and I am not a reader.

Here is one I did for a friend and, although you can't tell it in the way I took the picture, I have a gift card to Barnes and Noble in the pouch along with a couple tea bags.
Before I gave it to her I took the bookmark and put the bookmark its self onto the corner of the paper gift card holder that the gift card came in, so it was clear that it went with books! Then, just to be sure, I wrote something about enjoying a good book, marking her page and sipping tea.
Can't wait to hear what others have done because if someone didn't know it's a bookmark I can so see a recipient holding one, turning it around, and then being too embarrassed to ask.. "What's up with the crazy triangle thing???"
If you don't find someting you like at the Dollar Store, try the library. Our library always has books they are selling for 50 cents to a dollar, some are even free.
I would tear a page from an old book and put the bookmark on the corner and put it in an envelope. Or......take a piece of cardstock and cut to the size of a paperback book. Fancy write the name of a well known book on the cover and use that to simulate a book. The receiver would probably get the idea that way.
I agree, in most cases getting a book mark wouldn't look much like anything and would leave the receiver wondering what it was.
How about buying notebooks and putting the bookmarks onto the corners of the pages in those? Everyone uses notebooks and they needn't be expensive. You could write something on the first page about the bookmark looking forward to enjoying some books with more interesting content!
If you were just wanting to give the bookmarks, how about packaging them like people pacakge their card candy. Put it in a cello bag and create a cute topper for it that says CORNER BOOKMARK. Then there will be no confusion and you wont have to buy anything else with it.

Patti
I like Patti's idea! Maybe take a page from an old book (or stamp a text stamp on blank paper or use text patterned paper or--wait, wait, this just came to me!--type out the alphabet in a school-y font and print it out--and mat it with cardstock for stability. You could then print, stamp, or write "corner bookmark" on the text paper. Cut it in a square that will fit in a pizza box or a 3x3 notecard box and add the bookmark.
And I like the card candy-like packaging idea, too.
I better get on the ball making these and then figure out what I'm going to do...I did find some cute notebooks at the dollar store this morning, too...
