New stamps/backing
 

Ladies-
I came across a sheet of new stamps that I'm guessing are from the Angel Company. The sheet came with the foam backing.

The stamps are all short phrases.

Would I be better off cutting the rubber phrases out, then mounting on the foam and cutting again or putting the rubber/foam together, then cut?

I have cut out the rubber first. Lay it on the foam and trace around the stamp with a pen and then cut it out and put together. Worked good for me.

I'm lazy and only like to cut once. For my unmounted stamps, I apply the entire uncut rectangle onto mounting foam and then cut. What little bit of foam I might be able to save by cutting the rubber, strategically placing on he foam, and then re-cutting, is not worth dealing with the sticky on the exposed foam or the time to cut twice.

I usually prefer to put the stamps on the foam first and cut all together - unless the set has big spaces of rubber between the images, where I'd be wasting a lot of the foam.

If I do cut the images first, I leave extra rubber around them, then stick those to the foam and cut thru both the extra rubber and foam. I just find the cutting much easier if I am going thru both rubber and foam (I use a Tim Holtz scissors).

When I'm trying to save on mounting foam, I cut a sheet of copy paper to match the size of the foam and put the stamps on it face down (so the flat part of the rubber is facing up). Once I have them arranged the way I want, I lay the foam down on top of them and brayer the back of it to make sure the stamps are stuck. Then I cut. Works really well if you have a whole mess of rubber to put on cling at the same time.

I have tried both ways and I found it to be easier, cleaner, and less wasteful to put the foam onto the stamp(s) and cut the rubber with the foam attached rather than cutting the stamp and then applying the foam.

You might want to try one stamp one way and another stamp the other way and see which method you prefer. :) Have fun !!

Thanks much ladies. There isn't a lot of space between the phrases. So I'll try a section first and then see how it goes.
