Default reinking

I'm seeing a lot of techniques that call for a drop or two of reinking color. Has anyone tried food coloring or some other substitute instead? I don't have any reinkers so I'm trying to think of other things to use. I want to try the shaving cream technique but don't have the reinkers.

Any thoughts?

I've never tried food coloring, but if you have some in the house, it certainly is cheap enough to try out! Give it a whirl and see what happens - then let us know, of course! You can water down your coloring a little for lighter shade. Good luck!

this is the first time I ever tried shaving cream technique so i have no clue if it's ok or not. i took a drop of red food coloring and put it right onto the wood stick (popsicle stick) and swirled it around some. I don't think that I got it stirred up enough tho, so I'll have to do some more experimenting, but I think it's ok.

Try adding the food coloring dropped directly on the shaving cream, then swirling. That is how I do it with my reinkers. I usually get a good swirl effect that way.

Good job! Glad to know it worked.
