Shanon, I share your pain! Change is good but I feel like I have been on a road trip for almost a year, arrived at my destination yesterday and now I have to clear out the empty big gulp cups, get back in my car and travel to a new destination. Oh well, at least the new destination is beautiful and updated.

After I read this I checked the SU website and then my mailbox, sure enough my SS was there. I really like the new colors, they are awesome but I thought I was done gathering my colors and was looking forward to just creating with the full pallet. I even matched all my prisma color pencils! I am glad that SU is a growing changing company. All I can say is I hope they come out with craft spots in the new catty!!!

I'm sure I will get more and more excited as I get over my feelings of frustration.

Thanks, squeakyleaky! I appreciate knowing about the change so I can revamp the order I'm putting in for May. I'm especially jazzed about the sand and artichoke colors. Oh, and the saffron and the hunter and the...LOL, I'll probably end up getting all of the new ones. Thanks again for letting us know!

While I am excited about the new colors, and totally agree with MamaK about being with a growing, progressive company, I just placed an order last night for the entire set of pens, some of the ink pads, and paper that are being retired. I so wish they would provide some type of heads up for demos when placing an order for items that are going to be replaced/discontinued.

I am disappointed about basically wasting money on items that I can no longer use.

I'm excited except I loved Marvelous Magenta and now it's gone :(. But the new colors are great!

Thanks so much for letting us know! I was just about to put in an order that earned me an free ink pad from my demo and also order some reinkers. The thing that I don't like is I just bought the soft subtles and bold brights markers last month.

My problem with this thread is twofold...

1st, just once I would like to tell my customers about a new special or something exciting from SU! Just once!!! Everything is spilled here in the general forum before it is even released to demos. I am super excited (now that i've gotten used to the idea) that we are going to have some changes in our colors, but come on!!!
2nd, the person who announced this deliberately set up a new "identity" at SCS just to spill the beans. If it wasn't a big deal (which it totally is to me) he/she could have just used his/her regular scs id to post the information. Demos have REPEATEDLY asked that we get the chance to let our customers know new info first!!!!

I hate to be a buzz kill - and please don't shoot the messenger...

I definitely appreciate the excitement from the customer perspective and the disappointment from the demo perspective about the 'extra early' announcement... BUT

how do we know that this person deliberately set up a fake identity via a new SCS account today?

I've heard several people suggest this is what he/she did but I'm not sure if we are being too quick to jump to conclusions.

We should be careful about accussing people. With that said, I agree that it is stinky but let's not make it worse by making accusations we can't prove.

Thanks for letting me share

Heads up for some and heads up too late for some who have just ordered. It is maddening to just get in the game and get a sizable investment in CS, marker, pads, etc. and then have the rules changed. (I was a demo for two years and then they changed the demo rules on the amount you had to maintain to be a demo so I had to let it go, so I can understand the frustrations on both sides.) Hopefully these new colors sound like they could be close enough to the old colors to not matter very much and besides, it seems like the cardstock colors have varied a little each time I have ordered for the past couple of years that it doesnt matter what the name is but if it is the right color to use for a card. It just makes you kinda of punchy about what to order and not only for the peons but the demos too. I dont know how many times I have heard my demo say, "I am not sure I should order or demo that set as it may not be in the catalog next year." The same seems to be said for the supplement things. Change is good but in small doses....... I am not surprised at big changes in the colors as it was due.

Just my 2 cents: Even if SU! publicly announced this the exact moment they thought it up... there would be at least one person who ordered the old stuff the day/week before. It can't be helped. Change is a Juggernaut. :p

Good move, SU! I'm particularly pleased about the new orange -- I hope it's a nice toasty shade. Now they just need to get a pale aqua and a taupe, and I'll be perfectly happy.

You girls are really sweatin' the small stuff...does it really matter how it got "found out"? Your customers will still come to YOU to order the new products and come to YOU for new ideas (as well as SCS! ) Isn't that all that matters?

Um, you can return them as soon as you get them -- JUST FYI!!! Or, you can refuse the UPS package and not have to pay shipping on them . . .

true, the customers will still come to us, but there were some cool ideas in the demo area about things we might do with our customers..."Guess the names of the new colors" etc that we can't do now.

Ladies,
Even though, as a customer I know about the color change, I do not know what the colors ACTUALLY look like. You do! In addition, you have access to the new paper colors, we do not. Please try not to be angry about this...this is a very good thing!! You can still focus on how you are going to show the new colors to your customers, and give us suggestions for new color combinations.
Let's focus on the positive here, OK?

The issue is not that other demonstrators don't want their customers to know. Of course we do! We don't want you to spend money on the wrong things!! The issue is that demos just found out about this news mere hours ago - it's not like we've been harboring the secret because we don't want to share. It would just be nice to be able to tell the exciting news to our own customers rather than having them find it out from someone else.

And, the fact that squeakyleaky created a new name ONLY to come over to the forum to spill the beans means that she knows it's a pretty crappy thing to do.

They will have downloadable labels for the marker box and stampin' pastels after the new catty comes out.

Hey...will non demo's have access to this? I wouldn't have minded them ADDING new colors, and even though discontinuing stinks, 'cause if you run out of paper, you're OUT...but changing the colors kind of stinks!

Default yeah

yes, since the stampin success is online today it is general knowledge, so I am glad you listed them out for us there at the beginning.

I LOVE my Marvelous Magenta - that is one of my favorite colors, but the new colors are SO fresh! I think it will be neat to have a few colors on the "retiring" list that customers may want to get before they are gone.

Even if the cardstock will eventually run out, if you are a customer you do not use as much as demos do, so yours will last. Plus, if they love the color they can always use it on the neutrals and sponge with it, etc.

I think it will be cool to get some new colors in the mix, even though I already have all of the current ones too.

This is so cool. But I just received my cardstock samples and file folders labels from Southern Goose. And here I thought I was getting organized....

I am so glad I read this thread before I placed my order for the SU! demo kit. I would hate to have wasted my money on cardstock or ink pads that are retiring and will no longer be available.

Thank you for say this. I know I'm new here, but you can still play fun games and contests with your customers. Just tell them that whoever knows the names, can't participate in the contest to make it fair for people who do not know. And just a question, but are you 100% sure your personal customers are here in the forums to see this thread?
Just another thought. But if people are getting this upset over the new colors being leaked, then maybe you should have the administrators lock the thread or whatever they do to get rid of a thread.
Like someone said, as customers, we'll still be coming to you to buy the colors.

well, it could've been worse...they could've changed a lot more...or the whole line of stamps....or the albums....or....well you get the idea.

I'm not a demonstrator...but I wish ya'll wouldn't get so upset... don't forget not everyone comes to this board and there will be a lot of people who won't know.

Wow. This thread got exciting really fast!

I'm excited about new colors. I also will get the last set of markers this month through my marker club. Thank goodness we can order markers and ink pads separately!

Hmmm...I'm going to need to reorganize eventually...I'll need some new file folders, labels...

Oh, I hope, I hope, I hope that craft spots are in the new catalog!

I am thankful for the new color list!!! Yeah, hurray, I'm so excited!!! This just helps build excitement for me as a customer! It helps me plan my next orders because I definitely will get some of the cardstock, ink pads, reinkers of the disconinued and changed colors. I am disappointed I can't actually see the new colors yet, but all in good time!

This thread does encourage me to lie to my demo, though. When she tells me all about the new colors, I am going to act very surprised and happy so she won't know I already know!! I really want to keep her as happy as possible!

Those of you who bought discontinued colors and don't want to return them, you can always try trading them here!! I would love to have a new style marvelous magenta ink pad and the matching cardstock as well. I was about to order the CS on my next order and I only have the old style ink pad. This is one of my favorite colors! Just a thought?! The discontinued colors might even be worth more after awhile, possibly, if new stampers find they really want them? When I first started stamping, Luscious Lime had just been discontinued but a lot of people were trying to get it on eBay, if I recall correctly! So, there might be a silver lining to this problem of recent orders. I would probably even buy/trade a marvelous magenta marker from someone to have a spare, I will miss that color!

I am excited, except for in my starter kit I ordered Baroque Burgandy, I think that is the only one though. I'll just have to deal with it I guess. Some of the new colors sound very pretty.

everybody - if you have a brand new pad or cardstock that you now know will be retired, then why not take it, pre-cut the cardstock for them and add some white cardstock and wrap it with a bow and give it as a teacher gift for the end of the year! You were probably going to buy them something anyway.

Or if you do not have teachers, then give to a local charity and take a tax deduction for the gift for whatever it cost you, or give it to someone you appreciate who is not an SU maniac like we are - who would just appreciate the pretty retiring colors to craft with, etc. Or give as a mother's day gift, etc.

Not everyone cares if it is new or retired.Think of good things that can come of it and I bet you will not be so upset by the whole new color thing!

Don't lie to your demos - they probably recommended SCS to you in the first place for all the up to the minute fun and news! It would NOT hurt my feelings if my customers already knew about them - they will probably be asking about them soon! peace, Cathy
